I think not having Icebreaker is the definition of a casual. There have been so many opportunities to get icebreaker during the time this game has been it outs silly.
Edit: why is it always these types of comments that get tons of feedback
I'm not too concerned about how we define casual but i can only compare myself and my friends. I know this is a small comparison but i would think that a "hardcore destiny fan" would be one who would buy the game and played it at launch and has consistently sunk hours into the game. Coming in late or quitting for a longer period of time would make you less hard core than someone who had been doing that. To someone like me, who started from the beginning, has seen icebreaker at least 2x from Xur and has run a lot of content to hopefully see it drop a few time.
But who am i to talk, I didn't buy Gallarhorn during the 2nd week and i still regret it.

Ummm, no. I have been playing since day 1. Icebreaker was sold by Xur once. I did not have the coin at the time. It has not dropped for me anywhere, not Nightfall, VoG, or even strikes. Lots of other things drop for me but never Ice Breaker. With RNG the way it is, some people will have 5 Ice breakers drop for them and others none. I know people who played VoG religiously every single week and still don't have Raid armor. Not having something in this game does not determine a "casual".

I got it this week off my second nightfall ever. im a filthy casual trololol

Edited by PINKIN757: 12/19/2014 6:02:22 PMI been playing since launch everyday except weekends first time was not interested and I was broke
-
My buddy basically doesn't get off destiny except to sleep, he has over 850 hours and still no ice breaker or ghorn for him...the 1 time xur sold it (not 2 like you've tried to state) his internet was out for a week so he couldn't buy it. I would hardly call him casual
-
That's an OK assessment but not an end all. For instance, one of the guys I raid with is a phenomenal player. He has tons and tons of raid clears.... no Icebreaker.
-
Last comment says it all. Lol

Dude the most hardcore raider I know doesn't have one. Ain't shit casual about him. It's only been on sale 1 time so how does that mean plenty of opportunities?? You mean 1 opportunity?? That's not casual dude. Maybe they got the game late. Maybe they only had 1 character and not enough strange coins. Save that pompous shit for somewhere else. Not everyone was blessed with a RNGesus that loves them. Fyi. I have one. Updated and upgraded.

Edited by Miss Javelin: 12/18/2014 9:21:21 PM1 character = casual. getting the game late = casual These aren't insults. Just truth that casuals have more of a life then us hardcore destiny gamers.
-
Umm maybe they picked it up because it sounded interesting. Believe it or not some people "hardcore" do play other games that don't have "destiny" on the title. So what if they pick up the game and decide they love it then they are barred from being your "hardcore"? That's a closed minded ass point of view you have there.
-
I'm referring to hardcore destiny gamers. I should probably edit that. it's okay, bungie is now catering to casuals, late players, and christmas noobs by allowing gear to be sold at 31.
-
And so what you bought the game day 1(so did I) now you own the right to getting good stuff. By your logic they should just stop selling it now. We are the only legit ones there?? Crazy. That's not business.
-
I'm never said "we're legit". I also never said "we deserve all the good stuff". if you don't believe your friend is a casual, then cool. I'm not changing my opinion and neither are you, so let's end it there.
-
They've always done that. The new armor is no different then the level 29 crap they sold a week ago. Just keeping pace with the new gear. You would rather go raid with a 29 and 3/4 who couldn't get RNG to give him a chest plate or helmet?? I'll take a teachable 31 over a cocky 29 anyday. But that's me.
-
Vanguard should sell 30, not 31.
-
Thanks for standing up for me buddy :)

Edited by Miss Javelin: 12/18/2014 9:21:52 PMThese casuals dislike your opinion, it seems. I mean, I feel like "I dont have enough strange coins" is also leaning toward casual. Like, there's no reason to lack coins if you play on 3 characters. You may grind on one character, cause you have work, daily activities, don't have time for another etc.. And that makes you a casual gamer. It's not to be taken offensively, because it really isn't a bad thing. Those of you who missed an icebreaker may be defined this way, as I see no reason why anyone shouldnt have one if they grind out hours and hours in destiny. Just remember, this isn't a bad thing or insult, it just means you have more of a life than us hardcore destiny gamers.

Edited by MrVilliams: 12/18/2014 9:19:46 PMSo does hardcore gamer translate as any of the following: A) Unemployed B) Student C) Sponges off parents D) Spoilt Rich Kid Edit: A & B are the only circumstances in which I could've called myself a "hardcore" gamer, I guess now I'm a casual.

I fall under college student with part-time job. I live with my boyfriend though, not parents. So, yes, most likely.
-
If you go to school instead of playing Destiny, you're a casual.
-
I laughed.
-
If you laugh while playing destiny, you're a casual.

Edited by MrVilliams: 12/18/2014 9:13:27 PMSo student, makes sense. Good day to you.

This^^^ I remember seeing the GHorn and thought "Xur is gonna sell it again, meh rocket launchers" 3 months later :_: f*u*c*k, I should of brought that damn thing....(although its likely that my IB would be used more regardless)

One opportunity is lots?

I believe Icebreaker was sold on Xur's 3rd visit to the Tower, I didnt buy it as I got it days before through a Legendary Engram (lucky me). It is understandable that people do not have Gjallarhorn or Icebreaker Most people probably did not have enough Strange Coins at the time as they were under levelled to attempt Weekly Heroics etc. and the Cryptarch was Satan prior to the patch. Also, alot have people joined Destiny post Icebreaker. It would be awkward if a Warlock did not have the almighty Voidfang Vestments.
