It's only irrelevant if you're obsessed with the already meaningless system of value placed on the game. It's virtual art built by capitalist developers to swindle us out of our money and time in exchange for escapism and fantasy. Perhaps you could try getting your mind off your perceived goals and values to enjoy the content for what it is.
Discovery can take place among familiar things. Try reexamining your everyday world and perhaps you will find something extraordinary.

The word "swindle" implies some sort of deceit. However, the exchange seems straightforward: money for digital art, escapism and fantasy. Are you swindled every time you purchase something?

My wording was perhaps a bit biased. I'm of the mindset that the developers of most highly funded products are primarily interested in the economics of their respective trade, and that this effectively reduces the artistic integrity of their output. For example, Ridley Scott's decision to cast all white actors in his upcoming Moses flick was motivated by an understanding, by the director, that the film would not get financed if someone named Mohammed was given the titular role. I think decisions like this, while of course not directly correlative to destiny, take away from my ability to be inspired by the craft. I would argue that all commodities become like this. I always feel cheated because my values are never aligned with the seller. This is the problem all consumers have until they justify the intended value of a product against their own equity and need. Ultimately I'm suggesting that consumers divulge themselves of those expectations to avoid further displeasure or exasperation, particularly when dealing with entertainment that is specifically devoid of life sustaining properties. So no, I don't necessarily think it's a swindle for a hypothetical person to knowingly pay back into a system like that, but for myself I am deeply resentful of the conditions that condone and foster these kinds of deals. Don't worry though, entropy has our backs! Everything gets to die.

A comment that will not cut through 90 percent of the community but the other 10 percent will hear it well. Very inspiring.
