I don't have the patience or the will to do such an experiment, but I think the OP does have the capacity to do this properly and extensively.
I would say in order to get the best, most helpful results would be to:
1. Unequip any armor and class perks that give that gun type any form of buff (eg. Hand Cannon reload speed or ammo, Hunter's Gunslinger etc).
2. Test with only maxed out weapons.
3. With the optional perks on each gun (scope and ammo), use all the different combinations (there would be 9 for each gun).
4. Do more than 6 second increment recordings. As one commenter above mentioned, in order to calculate the true DPS, both the reload speed and fire rate would have to be considered.
I understand that this would take a ridiculous amount of time and effort to pull off. So if OP totally ignores this and still does his own thing I would still be very interested in swing the results.
