The other day I went to a Chinese restaurant with a friend for lunch. After a short wait we are seated by the hostess and given a couple of menus. On the menus are 3 meal categories, lunch, dinner, and dessert. We browse the menus for a moment and choose our desired meal from the lunch category before the server comes to take our order. I order the kung pow chicken and my friend orders the moo shu pork. After about 20 minutes the server returns with our food and asks if we needed anything else at the time. I quickly look down at the plate, scan it, and look back at the waiter "Where's my dinner and dessert?" She responds "I'm sorry sir, but you didn't order dinner and dessert, those will have to be purchased separately." I respond "But it was on the menu... where's my dinner and dessert?" She responds "I'm sorry for the confusion sir, the items on the menu must be purchased individually, they do not come together." I respond "But it's on the menu!! You advertised it to me! and I'm sure you already have some made in the back, just give it to me." She responds "I'm so sorry for the confusion sir, let me go grab our customer service rep so we can see what can be done, his name is Deej, he'll be over shortly." *Deej arrives* "Hello, my name is Deej, what seems to be the problem?" I respond "Well, you advertised lunch, dinner, and dessert in your menu, but I didn't receive dinner or dessert." Deej responds "I'm looking here at the order ticket and it doesn't seem you ordered dinner and dessert, perhaps our server made a mistake?" I respond "Well I ordered the kung pow chicken lunch, but dinner and dessert is already on the menu, it's being advertised, why wasn't it given to me?" Deej responds "Uhhhmm, sir?? Those are separate menu items, you have to pay for those separately." I respond "This is bullshit!!!! I'm leaving and never coming back." My friend chimes in "What's worse? You don't even give us as much food as the Italian restaurant directly across the street!!! What a waste..." Deej responds "Italian food is generally known for their generous portion sizes, we like to focus on other things like clean and working infrastructure, and food taste and quality here, not quantity. We're very sorry to see you go, however, we'll definitely take your criticism down and work on improving our dining experience, we hope to see you return in the future." My friend and I get up and begin leaving but just as I'm heading out the door I overhear Deej turn to our server and exclaim "What a tool!"

 • Your intentional hyperbole is entertaining. However, this would suggest that as would be more accurate to the case of this game no consumer is allowed to go to the restaurant, feel as though they did not get what was promised, and write a bad review/want a refund. Here's the thing. I went to this hypothetical restaurant not because they offered meals (like every other restaurant, which wouldn't have made them all that competitive and I would have needed another reason to choose to go there in particular) but because this was a restaurant opened by a certain person or company who has a track record of delivering excellence during the course of ONE meal. Every advertisement I saw suggested heavily that not only would I be getting a full and well made meal at the time of arrival, their dessert and additional servings are also excellent! That would be the sort of thing which makes me decide to go out of my way to go there, instead of elsewhere. Yadig? If I got there and realized "Meh, turns out this place is just mediocre. It offers nothing particularly outstanding. I'll eat the food, but I sort of feel slighted for not having gotten the amazing that was promised..." I'm either going to... A: Not go back. or... B: Inquire as to why it wasn't what was promised, and probably warn other people away. Neither are unreasonable responses. The only thing that made your example seem in any way reasonable was the humor factor, in casting a light of absurdity on the reaction. Well done for that. Bungie should hire you to help spin PR. Dissatisfaction, and action resulting form it, is a relevant reaction to any service or product. No amount of snark can discount the fact that not receiving what was advertised and being unhappy about that is a valid response. Furthermore, the storm out didn't happen. The causing a scene didn't happen. If you'd taken the time to read my post, rather than attempting to 'win the internet' and get a few likes, you'd have noticed that clearly I'm asking for an explanation. If hypothetical Deej and real world Deej were anything alike, and offered a calm and clear explanation, I wouldn't have written this post at all. So you get points for being funny. But lose them for missing the point.

 • The fallacy in your argument is 1) you were never promised anything but a working game that they hoped you like to play, and 2) the footage shown was never advertised as base game footage, it wasn't even advertised, it was development footage, and 3) just because you saw something doesn't mean it should be released when you expect it to, that's not your call. It's definitely your call to decide if you like the meal, and you're welcome to give reviews about it. But you did more than that, you started making conjectures as to why things turned out certain ways, "The food didn't taste as good as I'm used to, that's probably because they cooked it at 350 degrees instead of 375 degrees." You don't know that, the only thing you know is how the food tastes, so that's all you can comment on. Your whole argument is a little hard to fathom too, you expect me to believe they ripped out content to release as DLC, but when the DLC dropped the game completely changes? They did a complete overhaul to many of the systems and you conclude that the content was ripped out just to be pushed back in later. That just doesn't make sense from a business standpoint at all, they would never rip out finished content just to recreate it... I didn't attempt to "win the internet" I mocked the argument that just because you saw something it's now owed to you, that just because you expected something to be a certain way that it should be that way, and that just because you're not happy all the sudden you're an expert on what happened during development.

 • Why would 'desert' be on a menu? Who would want to eat that?
dessert
