I remember at around launch there was a report saying destiny had 8 million average. Or something like that. We're like 3 months in and I see a lot of people quitting the game. Does anyone know the number now? I'd imagine its pretty low.
Edit: So it went up to 12 million. Geez the game is doing better than I thought. And it'll jump even more at Christmas. I guess people accept mediocrity.
Edit 2: So its just the accounts, not actually active players. Bungie probably won't show the actual active numbers.

The games mechanics are satisfying, that's why everyone finds it so addictive

Edited by thefourfoldroot: 12/20/2014 11:48:27 PMI do. Even though there are major problems with the current set up I am addicted. If the next DLC implements the same practice of nullifying all previous effort however I will leave (NB: I am happy to re grind as a progression. Even happy to re grind from the beginning of a weapons stats as long as everyone can only do so after maxing the previous version first!)

I hop on everyday (or most days) to do the Daily and the bounties....I run the Nightfall once a week (Soon to be twice, as I have been slowly building up a second character) And I run the raid twice a week (Soon to be 4 times) I have fun with Destiny, I don't take it serious like all these other people seem to. I'm glad the way the loot system works, and the fact that not every weapon and piece of armor is easily obtainable. It gives me a reason to keep trying to get that weapon or armor I really want, and a reason to still be excited when I get something I don't currently have. Honestly I probably would have left Destiny a long time ago if it extremely easy to get everything I wanted...

I've decided to play it for what it is and enjoy it while I can.

I doubt they'll release those numbers unless someone in the media forces them to. That said, my gang suspects, and I agree, that unless some pretty serious economy changes hit between now and House of Wolves, they'll see a lot of folks ditching it after that expansion. Plenty of folks bought the whole pass so they figure, I've already put the money in, might as well see where it goes, but if it doesn't get better, why buy the next expansion?

Me and like 3 nonclan friends and 9 or 10 clannies

I still play daily. The grinding and sense of progress might take time but for me is rewarding. One of the few fps I come back to play all the time. Granted I might take a break when the division comes out im looking forward to that.

Mistakes have been made for sure. But it's fun to play. I like bounties and rep/gear grinding. Maybe they will give us the story for Christmas?!

The structure of buying gear from a vendor that has the second-best stats in the game is whats caused me to play alot less. The commendations, mark cap, influx of beginners already at 28+...

Edited by GreyPooponya: 12/20/2014 10:56:10 PMHold on. That's 12 million accounts. That's not accounting for people that quit. It's a fun action game. Lots of my hours are AFK too. I created two profiles too because they suggested making one with a pacific region set to it. Destiny will not be upfront about it and given how elitist the structure is, it's no surprise players drop. Yes I play a lot, but I also played dirge of Cerberus and castlevania this much too. Just saying.
-
It didn't go up to 12 million... There are that many profiles that have played the game not active players that play regularly
-
Bungie already got that 60 bucks from those $12million ppl (plus expansion purchases). It doesnt matter how many ppl still play the game.
-
-
Probably at 5 or 6 mil
-
I play upon invite
-
Still try to get max marks on both mains every week. Love playing and dont plan on stopping :)
-
I used to be on every day. As time went on I noticed that bungie was ignoring solo players so ive been playing less and less.
-
Thats the point u grind to the point but have to knw at wat point uv exhausted game then move on it doesnt mean game was waste time. Destiny was a success. it just means this mmofps has reached its zenith time to move on not get stuck trapped in the grind goin down with a sinking ship
-
U would have to say the amount of players have dropped only by a little. But the amount of time players put in on a weekly basis of dropped by a SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT....the game is not as fun anymore and is more of a chore than entertainment. The seriously -blam!-ed up by resetting exotics and resetting faction gear/rep...just for a tiny stat increase
-
Im on most days a couple of hours at most but theres not much left to experience but i have fun grinding out guns armor and all the features in game im having fun playing with friends and meeting new friends thru crucible and raids its a great timekiller that i catch my time fly by and not have to deal with trolls like on cod or other multiplayer based games destiny surprisingly has alot less of those people play to play against or with each other

I log in maybe once a week tops. Ever since the patches right before the dlc dropped, I've had 0 incentive to play unless my friends ask me to log in to help out with something. The game is just a non-stop grind fest now, and I don't see that changing for the better.
