I'm a fan of these types of post and think its a great idea but I heard a valid point made the other day. So remember when they said legendary engrams were guaranteed to be legendaries? Well when they did this it decreased the likely-hood of getting one. Now they have said that the raid will more consistently drop things you need so maybe there are now less chances to get those drops. Just a thought and also I've always wanted to explore the light tunnel after the darkness maze but am usually the only one still alive lol.
Now that being said raid chests seem to be spread from "stage to stage". VoG- 1. Sync plates, 2. Templar no port, 3. Exotic chest at beginning of gorgons, 4. Unseen by gorgons. So far we have these for Crota- 1. Darkness maze, 2. Speed shrieker. The 1st chest seems to be like the 1st chest from VoG; its a "thanks for showing up" chest. The 2nd has a requirement just like the templar chest. I think the next logical step is something with the deathsinger. She has to have some point and just not to be really annoying. Has anyone killed her before the liturgy begins or figured out how to kill her before she begins her song (doesn't seem possible)? Another point to be made is that there was only 1 exotic chest in VoG and so far we have 2.
Well that's all my theories and thoughts at this moment. Happy hunting!
there was only 1 exotic chest in VoG and so far we have 2
wait, I thought the second chest would only drop materials?

It is possible to kill her without the liturgy idk what we did but we got her to 75% damage and the liturgy never started and then we wiped, so we didnt kill her but we were so close it has to be possible

I have to admit, your theory about there being less chest seems plausible. If that is the case, I am just not mentally prepared to receive a truckload of ascendant materials again. Because technically those are things you "need". Oh god, i just shivered...............

Some people have also theorized that the deathsinger is where most of the primaries will drop on hard but that doesn't make sense to me because even if this was the case why wouldn't they put in a drop of materials only as a placeholder instead of writing new code for the drop.

I agree with you. To me, this encounter will be similar to the Templar, in that, you have to do it a certain way. Whether that certain way rewards loot or spawns a chest is anyone's guess
