What about it/gear/weapons can only be traded if it has not been equipped, ever. If you equip it you can not trade it. I would find that reasonable. and for upgrade items: (spirit bloom, steel plating, ext. ) you can only trade stacks of ten or twenty a day or week or something, that way you are still forced to gather your own items if you want that special gear upgraded.
