Crota Final Fight in 3 minutes (Video) Before Ogres Spawn! 2 swords used!

This was a strategy someone else posted that we gave a try and it turned out well. The strategy was about the setup of the team (4 center and 2 left) other then that we were just winging it really planning on dealing with the Ogre wave. Ended up not being the case.
Run took 3 minutes and 40 seconds or so. If you count from when the gates deactivate as the start time and end it when the Crota dies you can subtract a good 35 seconds from that so perhaps it took 3 minutes and 5 seconds.
Don't be a noob like me and get shot by Crota. Either hug the wall underneath him or go back into the bottom hallway. I didn't die or anything but still I could have.

I'm sure everyone wants to know the "combo" or so to speak to do this, theres 2 things that made this possible. 1st. He Showed up before he was kneeling (Need teammates who will not fail in taking him down) 2nd. Quick slash, quick slash, heavy uppercut slash, heavy downward strike. Rinse and repeat.

12 RepliesGood run! It's strange that the ogres didn't come after the first sword. When we do major damage on Crota after the first sword (about halfway down on his health bar), it seems to spawn the ogres. At first we were under the impression that ogres come after the 2nd sword, but after getting better and doing major damage with each sword, we've noticed ogres sometimes coming right after that first sword session. Maybe it's slightly random as to when they will spawn? OP, any observations what makes ogres spawn, as in number of swords, or percentage of health for Crota? Regardless, my team's best was 3 swords, and we can do it consistently. Sometimes ogres come after the first sword, sometimes after the 2nd. We'll have to try for 2 now!

I tried the R2 R1 R2 R1 R2 R1 combo in the Sword of Crota mission (for practice) but it doesn't feel faster nor does it feel that there's animation cancelling. What made smashing faster was to push forward while smashing compared to just hitting the smash button. Is there a difference in controls between Sword of Crota mission and the one in the raid? I don't believe there is. If this is not the way the swordbearer in your video used the sword, there must be some other control he was doing to attack that fast (aside from timing on when to attack him).

My team got him down in 2 1/2 sword uses, so I see this being possible, I think on the first attempt of the second sword he may have gotten slightly lucky with crota not swinging on him but a stealth Hunter could do the same. Did he get any specials off? Because my very last sword use was just two slashes I believe, so a special anywhere in there probably sealed the deal, or any extra attacks from those early swings.
