Actually the way to improve rates of exotic drops is to open the spirit bloom chest and head to the 'exotic' chest, if there is no exotic drop, Atheon will definitely drop multiple exotics. If someone/multiple people get exotics from this chest, the party has only seconds to act, Hunters must immmediately stick a throwing knife in those people, Titans Shoulder Charge and Warlocks use the Nova Bomb. Then you must make your way through the Gorgon's Labrinth, one person must spin round and round to the end and then do the jumping puzzle with their right hand on their left analog stick and left hand on the right, another teabags constantly, the other four people must guide the "Spinner" and get through the maze by triggering the Gorgon sound effect, but NOT being spotted. If you do this correctly, "Living in America" starts to play. You will probably be like WTF, but it gets better... Apollo Creed and Kabr both fly down and exotic engrams rain from the sky. As you are noticing that you now have the problem of holding too many secret exotics and your postmaster being full to overflow (0.1st world problem) The strangest thing happens, MC Hammer's "You Can't Touch This" blazes out, disco lights pop up all over the show and motha-blam!-ing Atheon himself moonwalks through the "Lost Gate." opening this chest does nothing to the chest that has drop chance for exotics my proof.... ive opened that chest and got a gjallahorn and 2 thunderlords and icebreaker and my 2 hawkmoons from the next chest (not the hidden one)

There's a bunch of different rumors but it doesn't really matter. It always contains two spirit bloom and 40 glimmer .... does it really hinder you to not open it?? Haha

no. its because, if you kill the templar without it teleporting, then another chest spawns. opening the spirit bloom chest starts a timer for that chest, so if you dont get to it in time, it despawns. but if you dont open it, the timer never starts, thus it will always be there. that extra chest is in the same tunnel you take when entering the area with the spirit bloom chest.

Three only time i ever get exotics is after i open the spirit bloom chest. Go figure. I also open it just to be a dick...

What I want to know is why does that chest give you spirit bloom?! If there is a secret to why its there, then someone please let me know.

You don't open it because it starts a 5 minute timer to get the next chest or it will disappear Somewhere a long the lines this has been translated into, don't open it to receive better gear. Up-vote this to clarify, thanks. :)

whenever everybody skips the chest and no one opens it, I have noticed people get more exotics 1. from my experience every single time the whole team skips the chest, someone always gets an exotic 2. every single time someone opens the chest, no one gets an exotic maybe it was just a coincidence and RNGesus decided to shine upon us on experience 1. but I always skip it, I will admit I am superstitious

The only thing I have heard for not opening that chest is because the first one in the gorgons layer would give you a netter chance at an exotic if you did not open it.
