Why does everyone skip the 1st chest, that's in the "Spirit Bloom" room? I've never opened it because it's always announced not to. Out of respect for the team I follow the wishes of my teammates, but no one can really give a good reason not to... Mostly it's about a better chance at receiving a better drop from a chest further in. I've also heard that it is all a rumor and that we are skipping it for no reason and missing out on loot.
Please enlighten me about the pros & cons about looting the chest or not... I'm really tempted to open it the next time I run the raid just to test it myself, not without letting my team know ahead of time.

Because it's a troll bungie set up for the first people to ever do the raid. It makes them think "hell ya! Another chance at some raid gear!" hey open the chest and get spirit blooms and realize that they just got trolled by bungie.

Yesterday I got 2 Heavy AmmoPacks, Blue engram and 16 Spirit Blooms out of it, could even use the Ammo at atheon. The first chest at the Maze gave 5 Partymemebers nada. Only I got Shards.

Pros spirit bloom Glimmer Possible engrams Possible synthesis Cons puts a timer on chest that you receive from completing Templar without him teleporting so you lose a possible raid chest. That said very few teams now have the ability to get the chest at all.

Edited by ZERO XVII 17: 12/9/2014 5:05:38 AMThere is no con. It was believed that you couldn't open the chest or else the secret chest would de-spawn but that is not true. The secret chest runs on a timer so as long as you parcore down fast enough you can get it regardless of the templar chest. We grabbed it every raid after we found out.
-
ROFLMFAO Do people STILL yell at people not to loot this chest? It's been proven like 2 months ago that the chest containing spirit bloom doesn't do anything besides give you spirit bloom. My team always loots this chest simply for the free spirit bloom and then we proceed to loot the chest for not allowing the Templar to teleport.

everyone is speaking pre-patch and post-patch lingo get on the same page IT DOESN'T MATTER ANYMORE!! JUST OPEN IT!! MOVING ON...

Edited by A Torpedo Fart: 12/9/2014 4:59:51 AMVenus Chest: Located in a hole in the wall to the left of The Templar after he is defeated. Contains Spirit Bloom and random Venus chest loot. Raid Chest #2: Located in the same hole as the Venus chest near the bottom of the run to chest 3. Must keep the Templar from ever teleporting to cause it to spawn. Opening the Venus Chest will start a two-minute timer on this chest. If you do not open it before the timer runs out, it will despawn. http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_of_Glass This was the original reason - Raid has had many changes since and this info isn't current.

Two times I haven't opened the spirit bloom chest 1st time: someone in my group got ghorn and another team mate got monte Carlo 2nd time: ascendant shards

10% means that out of 100 tries you have a good chance to score 10 times... So if you only try 90 at 10% you have a good chance to only score 9 times. Cut that down to 10 & 9 tries and missing that one cuts your chance to 0.9 chances to score which is less than 1 chance to score. So I'm going to keep believing the more the better philosophy when it comes to RNG reward system.... Open that BITCH
-
Superstition. The ones that don't get it, believe that RNG will be in your favor for the next set of boss loot/chests. I've started to get a shit ton of stuff since I've avoided opening that chest. I still think it's horseshit, but if it continues to give me goodies, I won't touch it.
-
Anyone says not to so i do and because I'm host i say let's go get the no tp chest
-
It's a rumor yes but in most people's experience not picking it up makes a chest give exotics just a rumor but an accurate one though
-
Cause it sucks
-
I always pick it up. Free spirit bloom and I've got 2 rare engrams and 2 special ammo synthesis from it before. People used to believe that it would make a chest disappear but that has been proven false
-
It's only spirit bloom and I got a green hand cannon from it so it's a crappy chest. It's the secret passage way in that room that really means anything tho.
-
I've done it both opening and not and the rng seems just as random. My personal theory is the chest is broken and it's supposed to give shards/energy rather than bloom.
-
Some say it improves the chances of better drops but no one knows for sure. I don't take it just in case. I can live with not getting 2 spirit bloom and some greens especially if there is a chance that it might increase my chance at an exotic later on.
-
It is hard to (with developer/many dat runs) to determine not opening it does not give an added chance.. For example one person may still get an exotic with a 5% chance not knowing if he hadn't opened it there would have been a 10% chance. I do it out of reapect for others and because with the new system two spirit bloom is a crappy reason to (possibly be an ahole).
-
It doesn't affect anything. However, why do you need to open a chest that gives you 1 to 2 spirit bloom?
-
apparently it can make the 6th chest disappear
-
I always agree make it to the room last then open it anyways.
-
People claim superstition about hindering exotic drop chances later on, and it's bs. People also claim it starts a timer on the hidden no Templar teleport chest, also bs. That chest only despawns when someone goes into the Gorgon Maze.
-
We always open it.
-
I've never been in a group that didn't open it and I've seen several exotics from the following chest.
-
Message to everyone who says leaving the chest alone gives better loot from the next chest. I had never got an exotic from the raid chest before, and I started opening the chest with the spirit bloom every raid. I just got the MIDA Multi tool from the chest last raid. So maybe your superstition works for you, but I'm gonna open that chest everytime.
-
Superstition the times I didn't open it,I got what I needed.everyone is different however
