I've been informed ( I don't know for certain since I don't have it ) that the Monte Carlo isn't very good. Most of the Legendary Auto Rifles that you can buy in the Tower are better than it.
Hawkmoon on the other hand is apparently ( once again, I don't own one myself ) a Beast thanks to its perks, it's range, ammo clip size and overall stopping power. This is the exotic you want.

Great gun which compliments good players. It's medium to long range but performs well in close quarters if you're skilled. Last word is max 2 kills per clip. Hawkmoon 4+ if lucky

A leveled Monte Carlo can be a beast if used right. I've been killed several times by it
