The reason they don't have trading is they want YOU to earn the gear, not get it from someone else.
I do agree that they need to implement trading in a way that you can only trade equivalent gear/weapons-if you have a fully upgraded exotic, then you should be able to trade it only for another fully upgraded exotic or the same for legendaries. This would be balanced so you can't get the gear/weapons fully upgraded when you did nothing to yours.

It's not earned. It's random drops. A lucky low level can have more stuff than a person that's played the raid on hard every week with every character.

Yeah, I fully understand. It would be outrageous to trade an uncommon Gozen-C for, say, Icebreaker. That is exactly why a player-controlled economy would be prominent. No person in their right mind would make a foolish trade, unless they themselves were foolish.
