I think it's more likely that the Radiant materials are going to upgrade exotic weapons and armor's attack and light, respectively. Remember back when they announced the level cap increase and people asked if current exotic gear would get light increases? They said they had a plan to give us an item that would allow that upgrade.

Not to mention, they are toying with the system of taking a common (which is one of the evolving DLC weapons) and evolving it through each stage. This only gives me hope that they are seeing how this will work in the community so they may apply it later on

Well I also read an article about how the Outfitter at the tower sells emblems of Gun Manufacturers. (Suros, Daito, etc.) One feature in the DLC's, not sure which or if it's both, one will have the ability to obtain guns made by that manufacturer through crucible if you are equipped with the corresponding emblem. These weapons are only rare, with a chance of being legendary. Why would they include the addition of more Rare weapons if there wasn't a plan for them?
