Indications of a SKILLED level 30.
Let me set up a hypothetical scenario here.
Let's say you've decided that you'd like to create a team to attempt to be the first to complete the new upcoming raid.
Obviously you're going to want some skilled players, what sort of skill indicators would you use? Would you just take anyone? Take any level 30s? Or would you look for some sort of indications of skill?
Within earlier periods of the game, being level 30 was a viable way of gauging someone's skill level in the game which made it easier when trying to find decently skilled players to play with.
Now that level 30 has become child's play, it's no longer possible to use it as a skill indication and as such we have to use other methods to determine a players skill level so please, don't take offence when hearing the term "Skilled level 30". I'm not saying you don't deserve it, im just using it a skill gauge.
Therefore I present to you what I look for in a SKILLED level 30:
[b]Indications that someone is a SKILLED level 30![/b]
1. Should have at least 10 hard mode raid completions! (This ones important, skill is grown from experience and as such having a number of raid completions is much more impressive than getting a full set of raid gear in 1 or 2 raids)
2. Must be able to solo the gatekeeper portals. (If you can't do this you need to get better. As soon as someone suggests weakening the gatekeepers first or doing one portal at a time I am immediately aware of their incompetence) Thats not to say you must solo the portals every time. The method I use is heavily dependant on the team im playing with.
3. Should have at least 5 different types of maxed weapons, with a variety of elemental damage and understand when and where each gun will outperform others in order to give themselves a situational advantage. Im sick of seeing level 30s still running nothing but suros, especially during Atheon.
Tbh that's all there is to it. I don't care if you are wearing a piece of iron banner gear, as long as you meet these requirements you'd be on my fire team.

Edited by Jer909: 11/28/2014 5:30:04 PMThere are no indications you can look for, considering nearly all level 30s, of old and of late, have either watched youtube videos for walkthroughs or have been walked through by others that have already watched said videos. You need problem solvers and people of high skill, and by high skill I mean people that are accurate and don't waste ammo/shots So if you want to run the new raid and try to be the first team to do so you'll need 1. Alot!! of time 2. Problem Solvers 3. Did I mention time? 4.Skilled players, going by a players PvP K/D is the only indicator you could possibly use, this is a requirement to again save time during the raid 5. Players with a range of maxed weapons, void, solar, ark 6. Gjallarhorn, goes without saying, and armor to increase Heavy Ammo 7. But the most important thing is to have a group of dedicated players that will have 10+ hours to fail, fail and fail again before completion Or you could just wait a couple of days for a walkthrough to come out EDIT: changed 6+ hours to 10+, the clan PrimeGuard took 10 hours and had 1,605 deaths before completing VoG

An important indication for me is Grimoire. The higher the score means they have played a while and grown, which indicates to me that they should be experienced when the struggle gets real.

1 ReplyThe only way to gauge skill levels is by playing with a person and taking note how they perform. There are many variants to "skill" in my opinion and what you would need in a team. Or just have a full team if nooby warlock to self res and you will be fine lol.

2 RepliesYou should change the title to skilled raider not skilled 30. All 3 aren't good indications of skill either. Awareness, gun game, knowing good spots, and staying alive are way more important, just to name a few. Hell, k/d in crucible is a better indicator for crying out loud. Too bad that those don't show up on the stats because you will be missing out on the truly skilled. You'll never know how skilled someone is untill you play with them ultimately. Those 3 points can't even give you a rough estimate.

Edited by swirve: 11/28/2014 3:01:14 PM1 seems stupid considering all the checkpoint trading and cheesing scrubs used....I have beaten hard VoG > 10 times legit, but still this is stupid 2 seems rather stupid....why do you need so many people on the outside, seems like they lack basic skills if that is the case....I'd call ppl stupid for insisting on only 1, given glitches and its more efficient...to have 2 in a portal 3. meh, as long as they have a good balance of void weapons could not care how many they have maxed, hell I only use 3 guns in total in the raid....

7 RepliesYour third point is decent. Elemental diversity is important, but the first two points are bogus. The new raid will require adaptability and strength. You can master the raid after a handful of completions if you listen. Anyone with weapons less than 300 ATK is a liability, 30s included.

Our group just needs warm bodies to fill the spots. Doesn't matter if they're that good, our core group can carry them. We run with 1 - 2 randoms and have no problems, even if the fandom's aren't that good. If you have to stress this much about a random or two, then its you guys who aren't good enough to carry them so there is some blame in both parts.

Edited by otherwisek: 11/28/2014 2:25:32 PMDefinitely not how many raids you've been through lol I've been on raids on normal with level 29-30's and I carried them as in top 2 in kill and oracle kills, while a few of the level 29's and 30's kept needing to get revived bc their guns sucked or they can't aim for whatever the reason. Note I'm a level 28 with max guns. My kdr in crucible is probably .91, which isn't great either but then again I use a scout rifle for everything so there can be huge disadvantages. But I also average a pretty decent assist. I think you just have to see how fast one reacts to instructions. There is a lot of criteria on what a good player is. Crucible control is actually a good way when you play with them I classify good strategist or a good killer or just plain suck flag gets and retarded killers Ie: smart strategists know that control there are certain choke points and areas you need to hold. Also it's good to neutralize that last flag but not necessarily take it. Good killers will understand I need to be in certain areas to hunt and know when to hunt. Retarded control players tend to run after every flag area by themselves to take that last flag even though your team controls two flags and the key choke points<- I have huge ass problems with constantly playing with players who do this. Retarded killers bum rush the enemy by themselves nothing more needed to say here.

3 RepliesI know I can expect good results from a player that Offers to Solo one of the Gate Keeper Portals or is confident and willing to be a Relic Holder. Knowing if someone is skilled or not is not something you can know until you observe their gameplay and are knowledgeable enough to know what to look for. A skilled player might be one that has and offers well developed strategies. A person that doesnt play recklessly and is reliable. A person that comes with their best guns and supplies and not the guns they find fun. A good player can adapt their play style and strategies to meet the problem at hand. I am a skilled player and Can Solo both Gatekeeper portals if required. Im usually always the dedicated relic holder. I know how to organize a team of level 29 players to beat Hard Raid. I have effective strategies for all classes (Hunters are not useless when they can go invisible and pick up the relics or open portals), I always place myself in a position where I can both watch a choke point and support other teammates. I am usually the least likely to die. I try to play as safely and reliable as possible since my roles usually tend to be the most crucial. So if i notice a player behaving similarly I want them on my team.
