Indications of a SKILLED level 30.
Let me set up a hypothetical scenario here.
Let's say you've decided that you'd like to create a team to attempt to be the first to complete the new upcoming raid.
Obviously you're going to want some skilled players, what sort of skill indicators would you use? Would you just take anyone? Take any level 30s? Or would you look for some sort of indications of skill?
Within earlier periods of the game, being level 30 was a viable way of gauging someone's skill level in the game which made it easier when trying to find decently skilled players to play with.
Now that level 30 has become child's play, it's no longer possible to use it as a skill indication and as such we have to use other methods to determine a players skill level so please, don't take offence when hearing the term "Skilled level 30". I'm not saying you don't deserve it, im just using it a skill gauge.
Therefore I present to you what I look for in a SKILLED level 30:
[b]Indications that someone is a SKILLED level 30![/b]
1. Should have at least 10 hard mode raid completions! (This ones important, skill is grown from experience and as such having a number of raid completions is much more impressive than getting a full set of raid gear in 1 or 2 raids)
2. Must be able to solo the gatekeeper portals. (If you can't do this you need to get better. As soon as someone suggests weakening the gatekeepers first or doing one portal at a time I am immediately aware of their incompetence) Thats not to say you must solo the portals every time. The method I use is heavily dependant on the team im playing with.
3. Should have at least 5 different types of maxed weapons, with a variety of elemental damage and understand when and where each gun will outperform others in order to give themselves a situational advantage. Im sick of seeing level 30s still running nothing but suros, especially during Atheon.
Tbh that's all there is to it. I don't care if you are wearing a piece of iron banner gear, as long as you meet these requirements you'd be on my fire team.

3 Repliesthe gatekeeper is a must on any raid team im on. The worst part of the raid is when you hit the gatekeeper checkpoint and call out which side you're soloing and nobody speaks up to cover the other side or you hear lets just do them one at a time, or ill just wait out here for you guys and go to the center, that's about the time I lose all faith in my team and am instantly ready to obit because I know ill be carrying these scrubs to the promise land. know how to us the relic if you want to raid, when you are teleported holding x should be a reflex, don't have hand cannons or shot guns equipped during atheon fight :facepalm:

I think over my period of time of running a lot of hard raids i have gathered a collection of people that i regard to be very good players so i find that its best to just play with people :)

2 RepliesYou can easily solo the Mars gatekeeper with gallarhorn, but without it it's not easy to make good time on it. It's best to have someone come in wi the you and pop it a few times with a sniper. So that is not a skill indicator that is again someone got lucky enough to find ghallarhorn. Of course the Venus gatekeeper has half the life and is very easy I'm comparison.

I personally have 13 maxed weapons, 7 of which I'm constantly swapping around depending on the situation)[/quote] 3 Vex Mythoclasts, 3 Epilogues, 1 Confluence, 1 Fatebringer, 1 Timepiece, 1 Universal Remote, 1 Suros, 1 Patience and Time, 2 Ice Breakers, 1 Plan C, 3 Legendary Fusion Rifles of each type, 1 Found Verdict, 1 Praedyth's Revenge, 3 Gjallarhorns, 1 Hezen Vengeance, 1 Prestige IV, 1 Corrective Measure, 2 random Legendary Rocket Launchers previously from crucible games till I got Gjallarhorn and Hezen. So that's a total of... 28 I believe weapons all at 300 damage. I also have an additional 280+ energy and 180+ shards to upgrade even more which I'm working on. I think the only sad part is RNGesus blessed me so well until I got this titan, now I'm at 3 Raid dry and all I need is either a helmet or chest to get level 30 on it... Hunter and Warlock are already level 30 with multiple gear sets all maxed out. Indication for skill for a level 30? Well, I've played with 30s on Conflux rounds and boy do they suck. I've played with my 2 friends who are both level 30 and we took a level 27 and 2 level 28s on hard mode and we cleared conflux in a single round just because the 27 and 28s positioned themselves where we told them to go. So for skill? A full team of 30s should be able to clear Conflux perfectly, flawlessly, without a single death. Also, a team of level 30s should wipe the Nightfall missions easily. We finished Nightfall on all 3 alts in under 30 minutes. All our 30s took under 8 minutes first try. 30s should never struggle here.

I don't have ten hard completions because everyone always gives up. I'd sit and do it all day until I pass out or realize that I must suck too much to play anymore. But I don't think I suck. At least I don't think. I'm pretty sure I'm NOT that one guy in the groups everyone talks about once the fire team dismantled. Like that one guy in the friendship that's kind of a loser, but you keep him around for laughs...? Hmmm. Maybe I need to rethink my life...

1 ReplyYou have to have a team that you'll have fun failing with. My clan is going in blind just like the first runs of VoG. Going in blind means failure, lots of failure - if you can't have some fun while doing it, you have a sad sad life. And in a situation like this, sometimes coming up lacking in skill forces you to find the best solution to a problem verses trying to pound your way through something.

7 RepliesI think your requirements except soloibg the gatekeeper is not sophisticated at all... Because this has nothing to do with skills... Only woth eagerness... A good indication would be in my point of view how is your kill/death ratio in strikes and how many enemies u kill per strike comparing to the other two members... This can give a good impression how effective a guardian is... Or not ;)

You need a team of 6 people who work together and try out each others ideas. Add someone who learned how to do the raid over 3 sessions and no help from people who finished it before, communication is the most important aspect. Describing what you saw before the team wiped was so important to figuring out the supplicants. Because we didn't know what caused people to be teleprted. So when the patch made it random, our team didn't suffer at all, as everyone already knew what to do.

Wats wrong with suros? Rof? The one thing i dnt really understand in this game is which kinetic weapons are best to use and which legendaries can stack up against exotics

1 ReplyIn terms of gear and completions I'd have to agree, but I'm not sure you're right about only bad players doing the portals one at a time. It depends mostly on your group makeup - if you only have one person with gjallarhorn it's actually easier to do it consecutively, and send 2 people to defend the time plate, one to take out minotaurs at the conflux and one to help with either side while the GHorn person takes out the gatekeepers in 2 hits, instead of waiting for someone with an ice breaker to slowly shoot it down.

I am officially a skilled player with 5 full raid suits, 9 chests lol. But I already knew that. Probably done the raid 40+ times helping others.

I do everything. I prefer to defend the left confluct at templar everytime. I love soloing gatekeeper. I'm a valuable asset to every team I join. I am fearless and as a result I can do anything

Seriously - I have done the raid, what, 9 or 10 times? 3 of which were hard I think. I don't know. But I know for fact that I am very competent. As a level 29 Warlock, I can kill ads more effectively than a lot of 30s I've seen (not to be immodest) but I've also seen a lot of skilled 30s that have few raid completions. A level 30 should be able to: 1. Use VoC, Ice Breaker and Hezen Vengeance to completely hold down the pit on the Conflux stage of VoG. 2. They must be able to ask for help. A 30 who thinks they are invincible is the worst. You CAN NOT kill the Minotaur in the Green Portal against Atheon solo. Even if you can do it, it's a pointless risk. Ask Fireteams to throw grenades. 3. Blame themselves. "You didn't throw grenades!" and "Why did no one call that Minotaur out?" are not acceptable unless it really isn't your fault. You have a radar and you shouldn't let a Minotaur get near you and they probably did throw grenades; you weren't jump bashing. 4. Be mindful and respectful. There is nothing worse than the "Iron Banner 30s aren't real 30s." or "The Last Word is OP, nerf it!" or "You suck" or the worst of all, "I'm kicking you because you're a Hunter." 30s. There is a line. No "I EARNED it from RNG and you got it based on LUCK!" because that a) makes absolutely no sense, and b) It's just whiny and annoying. Anyway, that's what I look for in a player. Not their level, but their attitude to what is, and always will be, just a game.

But the best proof was the day I hit square but failed to pick up the relic. I charged down and beat the adds including Mr Jerk-Off the Minotaur with my mere Scout Rifle. I heard the Relic holder shouting in the mic, "Kali what hell are you doing?" I said "killing the adds with the relic." I turned around to see the relic holder standing at the top of the stairs looking at me dumbfounded. Oracles were blazing around him and the other portal person. I could only say one thing at this point. Leeeeeerooooy Jeeeenkinnnns! That was the day I knew I could do the Venus relic...
