I wont attempt a raid until i spend some serious time watching the youtube vids. Then hopefully get in w a good experienced group so i dont make many mistakes. I feel that if you dont know it before you attempt it or aren't that good yet then you should at the very least let the entire team know. Then they can decide to keep you or let you go. It's pretty simple. I was invited to fireteam and spawned in the raid yesterday. I said wtf to the dude who invited me, i dont know this/that! The group was as you described: one guy was sort of the leader but it wasn't structured or planned out well so everyone dropped out. Not a surprise drop, we just all agreed that it would be a waste of time.

 • Hopefully more people will heed your advice.
I feel that if you dont know it before you attempt it or aren't that good yet then you should at the very least let the entire team know.
If you are unsure please ask questions. If you are struggling with something ask for advice. If you are unsure why you are meant to do something or if you should be doing something ask. If you think you did a particular boss more efficiently or have an idea that could improve an encounter for the group please speak up. Just remember that during an engagement it's generally not the right time to deviate from an aforementioned plan to do your own thing. Even if you think there is a better way to complete a particular encounter once the group decides they are going to do it a particular way cooperate to the best of your ability. An attitude of "I'm doing a fight one way and that's it regardless of the rest of the group" won't be very successful in pickup groups.

 • My clan spent a week watching raid videos and it still took us roughly 6 hours our first time. Watch the videos all you want, but the best way to learn is to get in their and do it. If you do it with a group of friends it's fun, because you aren't worried about some random ahole yelling at you for messing up.

 • I agree, guys, best way to learn anything is to get your hands dirty and jump in. That said, a certain amount of preparation is incumbent on me. I need to know what to look for, just a general idea, so i don't drag others down w me. I look forward to raiding within the next few weeks, id like to get to 29 first before i try it on normal. And maybe get a few nightfalls and some weeklys in as well as more pvp time to generally increase my skill.

 • Higher levels is always good! But honestly you will do fine on normal at lv27/28 if you have some maxed weapons, and if you jump in with a group that plays together often and so is fairly coordinated. The best way to learn is to play with some people that are really willing to help you! If you play on 360, you're welcome to add me, GT is my name here. I raid every week and I'd love to show you the ropes!

 • Do you do hard mode or just normal? Got a group I run with on normal but hard mode is still a ways off and I would like to find a decent group to run hard mode with.

 • Me? My group usually runs normal but I try to do Hard mode on my Hunter at least once a week, I have a couple guys that usually are down to run it.

 • Why are people afraid of making mistakes? It's how you learn to do it the right way or accidentally discover a new way of doing things.

 • At least you did not post in an LFG thread and let everyone know. Sorry you didnt get to make it through then but if the group was not communicating well, you were better off leaving anyway and joining a group of high levels willing to help people learn the raid o b normal.
