Hey all, I have been coordinating with my clan to do an educational run of the Vault of Glass for those that have never run it before or those who would like a more in depth look at some of the useful tactics to defeat Destiny's greatest challenge thus far. Based on the responses I have already received in a few separate threads, I wouldn't doubt there will be more interested players than I could hope to group with in a short period of time. Not to worry though, I will do my best to get everyone here a crack at the vault and a solid working knowledge on how to best it, whether it take one weekend or a dozen. Some of my clanmates will likely help along the way, and while this is not a push to expand my clan, if you enjoy your time with us our doors are always open. If learning the VoG is an interest of yours, please keep up with the updates below! As a short aid for those joining these runs, here is what you should be expected to bring to the table: o Character level 27+ (87 Light). Yes, the raid is level 26; however, the mobs' levels graduate to 28 over the course of the raid, which leaves level 26 players at a -40% damage hit and an increased chance for death. This can easily be achieved with 1 exotic and 1 legendary armor piece, both of which aren't too difficult to obtain. A combination of 1 Exotic, 2 Legendary, and 1 Rare(18 Light) items can get you there without any shards spent. o Void Damage. The only enemy shields present in the vault are those belonging to Minotaurs/Praetorians, and void damage is a must to break these. While only one weapon of this damage type is necessary, the more the merrier. o Leveled-up Weapons. I don't expect new players to the raid to have maxed out gear, but take some effort to improve the damage of the weapons you intend to bring into the raid. I still see level 29/30s trying to do the hard raid without maxed special/heavy. o Time. A VoG run involving 4 first timers takes roughly 2-3 hours to complete. While this may seem like a lot, especially to some veterans, this time includes the following: ----- In depth tactics for each section of the raid. ----- Dedicated time for each individual to have practice time utilizing the relic ----- Legit Templar defeat, including at least 5 attempts at a no-teleport defeat ----- Destroying a Gorgon for everyone to achieve that grimoire card ----- Allowing all players to experience each area of responsibility during Gatekeepers ----- Thus far, 100% success ratio defeating Atheon in under 3 hours with a group consisting of 2/3 first-timers o Patience. There will be wipes. People will make mistakes, die, fall of ledges, hold up the group in one way or another. I am being extraordinarily patient in offering this service when I have no need to run the normal raid ever again. I ask that my participants share in that level of patience for the benefit of all involved. UPDATE 11/18/14: There will be no tutorial runs this weekend for a few reasons due to a combination of Iron Banner and various clan activities. That being said, for those that desperately wish to learn the vault, if you build your own fireteam of at least 4 and coordinate a time with me this weekend, then I will run VoG with you. Apologies for not supporting tutorials this week, but I have a responsibility to my clan and certain goals we would like to meet before the DLC drops.
G-eazy89 i am a 29 inv me
