I think most people are out to lunch with how this games advancement is completely manufactured. Coincidence Bungie are handing out level 30 weeks before the expansion? No, they are controlling our advancement in every way, they are trying to keep us grinding until each dlc etc. This game has no hard core players like other games because you can only do so much (3 characters). Playing tiger strikes all day every day or crucible will not get you to level 30, it will only get you exotics which bungie hand to us weekly through xur. All the advancement is controlled with weekly loot drops.
