Why I love Destiny

All the complaints I read just show me why I love the game so much. I use to think ugh not much story etc. etc. I realize it is because I want as much of this game as I can get. I would never spend as much time as a do playing destiny doing anything unless I really enjoyed it. I have 3 characters which will all be level 30 by the end of the weekend. It is repetitive but so isn't every other game I play. Titanfall was repetitive from day one, COD takes a few hours to beat the story then once you play 1 multiplayer match it is the same thing over and over. All games are this way BF4, same stuff over and over. This game has more to do then any console games right now besides MCC, that's all repetitive because they are games we have all had before. All multiplayer games rely on people doing the same stuff over and over and this is the first game I have played and enjoyed PVE over and over, and it has just as much multiplayer as it's competitors. I was amazed at how low of a rating it received by so many.

  • Hello from the future! I found this waaaaaaaay-old post by doing a Google search for the phrase "I Love Destiny." Because I do, and that's just how I'm feeling right now. I took a few months off after the Dawning/SRL event, thinking that it lost its charm, but I just jumped back in a few days ago and now I'm in love all over again. You can literally never run out of interesting things to do in this game. And that's true even if, like me, you don't have a taste for the politics and hassle of fireteam-building. I got a code for the game in beta from a friend and thought it was really, really cool. I still have good memories of rocking around the Russian rocketyards with my year one Khvostov, getting up to about level 15 before the beta period ended (I was very late to the party). I was in a cheap phase and felt the asking price was high so I thought I'd wait out a price drop. Then all the hysterical reviews came in, and they made me think I made a good decision. Then, just on a whim late some night, after the Fallen King expansion came out, I was remembering how much fun it was stalking the post-apocalypse Star City, and I decided to buy it. My only regret is that I waited so long. In terms of the number of hours I've spent/invested/wasted on a game, Destiny has surpassed the Commandos series, the Tony Hawk series, the Fallout series, the Command & Conquer series--EVERY other gaming franchise. Probably because it's my favorite ever. I love it because it looks amazing. Every dimension of every object, every landscape, every surface, every atmosphere--everything--looks like a person with really sharp taste in design made it. It's just the slickest looking game ever. This game is art. Serious art. And I love immersing myself in it every day. I also love it because the character classes are a perfect blend of the simple and the complex: there is a user-friendly simplicity with three types and three specializations, but within them is a real depth of options. It's not like some RPGs that just bombard you with choices, many of which are inconsequential or purely for the sake of narrative, and too many of which require so much analysis that you spend all night doing math rather than playing the game. The menu of options you're given among the character classes, within the subclasses of the classes, and within the skill trees of the subclasses, are important even though they are sometimes subtle. It's awesome to learn and experiment with new ways to strategize and compete based on variation of builds and gear. But the game is fun to play no matter how deep you are into those subtleties. I've been playing this game for a long time, and still loving it. I Love Destiny.

  • I always used to love this game. I hope you love it, and keep doing that. I lost interest a month after the Taken King released but used so much money on it. $250

      • Awesome game! Despite all the negative comments, I think this game is not bat whatsoever. The enemies look really great, There are different species of enemies. The AI is really awesome and smarter than the AI in other games. The missions are challenging and the game in general is really addictive.

      • I apologize for the late response, but I agree. No other game has captured my interest as this game has. I hope that they don't give up on this game because of a few bad reviews. Some people want to complain about having to "grind" out the xp required to relevel their exotics, but how is it a grind if you enjoy doing what is necessary to earn xp. I was glad to see your post as I hope others will voice their enthusiasm about this game so as to see the long running game that they have planned.

      • I love Destiny so much. I'm really confused about all the negativity surrounding this game. I suppose to be fair I didn't play the game at release, starting my character the first day of the new year. So maybe there have been changes for the better? This game has everything I want from a great game - excellent gameplay and fantastic presentation. Maybe the story is a bit bare in some spots, but what the heck, the game with a 10 year plan just started so I'm sure we haven't seen nothing yet. Destiny is Bungie's masterpiece. Halo was the breakthrough game, but Destiny is the masterpiece... :)

      • This is a fantastic game. I guess I view it differently compared to all the trolls on this forum.... It's not repetitive to me and I've been playing since launch... I guess I'm addicted to the progression of leveling weapons and gear and of course hoping for the blessed drop (FYI I got the Suros dropped playing Control last night), but in my opinion there's so much to do with PVE and PVP content... After a long day at work it's relaxing for me to patrol the planets and do those "repetitive bounties". Just me. Thanks for your post.
