For those of us who can't sit around and grind the IB for 10 hours or more, a bit longer than seven days would have been nice...

That is kind of the point in a grindy game like this though, you don't have the time to play and grind out the gear, you shouldn't get it. Otherwise the game is just too easy.

Spike time investment is bad design. As people burn though everything in a day and the hardcores move onto the next mmo. Length of play is a better way to go as people from all sides can feel invested and never feel like their missing out. Eve online and Dust 514 are great examples of this.

If those who bought this game were the 24/7 grinders, the population would be very, very, very small. Most people aren't unemployed, lifeless or kids skipping school playing these games.

It's a carrot on a stick game, whether you want it that way or not. Level 30 is that carrot, and if everyone can get level 30 within 2 weeks of iron banner if they play like 3 hours in a week, EVERYONE will quit. The game will be over for every person who sees level 30 as the end of the game. Iron banner, especially with the buffs, already makes it really easy to get 30. Make it any easier and you will lose the playerbase, not cater to it.
