In some previous Mmo/Rpg games I've played you can take a look of armors/weapons and use currency to put it on another set of armor/weapon. Example below.
Go to NPC and place items in 3 slots:
Slot 1 Stats - level 30 raid helm placed
Slot 2 Look - level 5 rare helm placed
Slot 3 Payment - strange coin/motes/shards/glimmer. To me best idea said is weapon/armor parts as a payment as well.(edited)
Result = level 5 helm with level 30 stats (still required level 20 to wear)
What u all think?

1. Looks like most popular suggestions calls for transmogrification Bungie.
2. I'd like to point out that some people are suggesting DCUO type where u save the look of the armor you've obtained. (Just another suggestion.
3. Another new addition that has been brought up is having a vanity slot for each weapon/armor slot and just place the look you're going for in there without changing stats.
4. Some don't want to be able to do this with exotics just legendaries
5. Other players also brought up being able to use motes of light to increase light levels on weapons and armors
6. Another guardian suggested ability to "rotate" through options for how the shader colors are applied to a specific piece of gear.(edit)
7. Also brought up is the ability to "purchase" custom icons that can be applied to your gear or weapons (similar to the Queen items)

I whole-heartedly support this notion!! My idea was, instead of earning raid armor that could get you to level 30 from the raid, you could earn materials that would allow you to further upgrade any armor to level 30.

You find a piece of gear you like the look of and the perks it has that you want to keep. Simply equip it and play the game. As you play your gear gets exp and to level it up you use whatever materials needed to upgrade it so the gear can be leveled along side you but only to whatever level you're currently at. Once you hit 20 instead of having to switch over to some other gear that has light, you simply take your gear to the speaker and have him infuse it with motes of light that everyone has but no one really uses. If Bungie is worried about people hitting 30 too quickly and want to make it a grind then they can simply make the number of motes of light required to level a piece of gear at a high number. Maybe make it so to hit thirty the gear needs a specific material that only a Raid boss drops or can be found in a Raid chest, keeping it consistent with the Raid being a endgame of a sort. The same could go with guns. Of course Raid and Exotic gear would be made so that they get higher stat boosts when upgraded making them somewhat desirable to those looking for a little edge in combat but not entirely necessary to hit 30. Another little nice feature would be to make it so the longer you wear a piece of gear the more it begins to wear and tear. Maybe make it so you have to repair it over time at the gunsmith. Asthetically gear worn for long periods of time over multiple battles could begin to show nicks and scratches, a couple bullet holes, maybe even a shard of a dreg knife jutting out of the rib. The color could become somewhat faded too. have helmet visors cracked and punctured. The vets of Destiny would look worn and tired from the countless enemy encounters. Those who complete the raid look like they're flickering as if a part of them is still lost in time from when Atheon teleported them. It would be like the nightfall blue flame and only last until the weekly reset. Doubt this would become a reality, but eh one can only imagine I guess.

Best idea I've seen yet. 10 strange coins seem steep. I think you should be able to combine the two to create one.

I like the stats on raid gear, but am not too fond of how it looks on Hunters and Titans. Love how IB gear looks, but wish it had better perks. I would love this idea.

6 RepliesI agree there should be some variety in armor, not just one set. I'm not a fan of transmog. PvP makes gauging a person gear from visual queue hard, and pve same thing but with less impact on the urgency of gauging gear.

Yes...BUT ONLY WITH LEGENDARIES!!! Exotics are called exotics cause they all look weird/different. That shouldn't change

Bump +1 for a great idea, but honestly what needs to be done is have the lower tier gear be available as a legendary drop. Have the same name and look, but just as a legendary tier. Honestly I think the lack of armor looks is due to an oversight from a a previous version of Destiny. Originally loot and gear would scale to your level, so higher tier loot would be just as effective as lower tier loot. But when the core mechanics changed along development path, the gear didn't adapt as planned.
