Bungie,
In some previous Mmo/Rpg games I've played you can take a look of armors/weapons and use currency to put it on another set of armor/weapon. Example below.
Go to NPC and place items in 3 slots:
Slot 1 Stats - level 30 raid helm placed
Slot 2 Look - level 5 rare helm placed
Slot 3 Payment - strange coin/motes/shards/glimmer. To me best idea said is weapon/armor parts as a payment as well.(edited)
Result = level 5 helm with level 30 stats (still required level 20 to wear)
What u all think?
[If yes please make sure to bump post up to top ;) ]
Edit: Most popular ideas regarding the matter will make it on the list.
1. Looks like most popular suggestions calls for transmogrification Bungie.
2. I'd like to point out that some people are suggesting DCUO type where u save the look of the armor you've obtained. (Just another suggestion.
3. Another new addition that has been brought up is having a vanity slot for each weapon/armor slot and just place the look you're going for in there without changing stats.
4. Some don't want to be able to do this with exotics just legendaries
5. Other players also brought up being able to use motes of light to increase light levels on weapons and armors
6. Another guardian suggested ability to "rotate" through options for how the shader colors are applied to a specific piece of gear.(edit)
7. Also brought up is the ability to "purchase" custom icons that can be applied to your gear or weapons (similar to the Queen items)
****Keep it up guardians were trending!!!!****

It will get there, earning the IB armor is a start towards diversity

There is ZERO customization in this game. ZERO. If you call three, YES THREE attributes customization, then you simply don't know the definition of customization. Do those THREE attributes really affect your gameplay like you would think? Absolutely not. It's actually a joke. Then you have perks, perks on your weapons, and perks on your armor. There is a very minuscule amount of perks and they are simply just jumbled onto such respective weapons and armors. You have zero choice in the matter, there is nothing custom about this. Bungie's Pre Launch words from their own mouths - " every guardian will be unique ", " everything you see is playable", " Destiny is a open world epic", " customization is endless ". What a crock. We all fell for it sadly.

1000x Bump. The coolest Hunter Chest piece is for level 15s... (-_-)

Edited by Mike-MF-Hall: 11/20/2014 2:49:52 AMI like the idea of raid gear and level 30 gear all looking the same, but there needs to be more types, like this iron banner stuff. Having gear related to a specific thing is cool. It let's people know what you've accomplished at a glance. I've done this event and i got this gear. I like that But for everything below top level, I think you should be able to transfer your stats to something you like Edit-also, exotics should stay the way they are

Bump! Awesome idea!

10 strange coins is way to cheap to upgrade armor to 30. If this were the actual cost, everybody would reach thirty a couple hours after reaching 20.

It'd be cool if I could have this helmet at a higher level stat. It looks awesome! It's just really low level... http://i.imgur.com/vMfSB3z.jpg

Edited by VyersReaver: 11/20/2014 1:54:31 AMEva Lavante can do this stuff! And it's called transmogrification, from Diablo and WoW. And I already know what I will look like 'wink'

Yes. I love ps exclusive armor. I have it on my Hunter. I have a full raid gear set but the ps exclusive looks better. It may make me appear as lvl 25 but at least I look cool. I just need the helmet and I'll have set complete.

Maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't it be easier just to go to an NPC and have them 'randomize' the look of the helm?

Edited by vonnostyhammer: 11/19/2014 11:59:17 PMI agree with this for all in game items. i actually kinda like my Khostov and would love to be able to bring it up to a higher level. Even if you make it cost some ungodly amount of items. 250 damage Khostov for 50 acsendent shards, etc.

dcuo by far has the best style system I've seen. I like the mote of light idea as well. and I would love to see maybe a custom shader creator. choose your own 3 colors from a palette and spend light, coins, glimmer to create.
-
I've seen ideas similar to this where you can get a blue or better armor piece and make it legendary/raid quality by using motes of light. I think that would be a great idea. But yours is good too
-
They ought to use the styles system in DC Universe Online. You get an armor piece and collect it's look or style. Then you can wear whatever you want for stats and set your style separately, customizable colors and everything. That is unique. Surprises me more games don't do it. A real shame.

What you're describing sounds like 'transmogrify'. I can't believe they didn't have it at launch since they knew everyone would eventually look alike. I'd love to grind out new 'looks' to unlock and then pay a small (or large) fee to change individual pieces of armor. There could even be special 'legendary' or 'exotic' looks to unlock by doing certain things. It would add a whole new layer of depth to this game and encourage people to be unique.

You forgot to add a do not care option snowflake.
