The Gaming Industry is toxic

Seriously with all of them rushing games before Christmas and not even fixing bugs until weeks later.

  • There are set release dates for games. Unfortunately, due to the technology and programming/developing required to run these games, many of them have issues. Sometimes, developers don't always spot all exploits, glitches and bugs in their games. These are usually patched later with updates now. Also, online multiplayer games can't always handle the capacity of players on their servers. Do you or anyone else have any idea the knowledge and skills it takes to create games these days? Not only that, but maintaining them is also difficult with added content and expansion packs. I disagree that the gaming industry is toxic. However, I will say that more games need to have the beta version released for players to enjoy. Not only would it help developers figure out issues with their game, it would also give people a glance at the game. It's like advertising and critiquing at the same time. The connectivity issues shouldn't be issues though. I understand that it takes a lot of hard work to maintain solid servers, but after a couple months, I believe it should be fairly close to 100% reliable. Initially though, I expect issues and don't blame anyone for that. Despite what I stated above, I will say that many games could be considered a Skinner box. Take Destiny for example. We do the same things we've already done over and over again, hoping for a reward. Sound familiar? Some developers actually do this on purpose to keep players playing. They probably want this because they will eventually make more money off of consumers by providing more content and/or extra activities. This new content will eventually be played over and over again, like the old content. That's the only aspect of modern day games I would consider to be "toxic", though I wouldn't use that word. I would simply say addicting. I have no problem with this though. I enjoy playing all video games. Video games are fun, relieve stress, and take our minds off of things.
