I want to like this game but just am not willing to do the beta testing of network connections to play in single player mode, will avoid any future Bungie game as they all look like they will be "always online connection" games. Just feels like a punishment.

I waited to buy this game until after I finished writing my dissertation. It was an incentive to keep pushing through mind-numbing hours of drafting and revision. But the network consistency issues - and the fact that the game somehow bumps me off of XBL - are really disappointing.
