Definitely defender, I cannot go back to striker after getting it. Then gunslinger for hunter and then sun singer for warlock.

Defender is, particularly, good for Minotaurs/Praetorians/Operant Psions. Striker is, particularly, good against Captains/Knights/Harpies. Defender is good for Control, Salvage, and Combined Arms. Striker is good for Clash and Rumble. In other words, they're both good for different reasons.

Sun singer is amazing for the VoG. Definitely a life and party saver.
