You already know what this thread is about. We don't know (and may never know) if there truly is more to the VoG, but regardless the search will inevitably continue.
I am making this thread because I have done a lot of searching and theory testing, like too much. Ask me anything, and I will be able to tell you if it has been done or not. I will be able to tell you if you're ideas are worth a shot or not. I will try to reply to every post and give you my input. I'm not trying to brag but I probobly have more knowledge of the search than all the other thread OP's combined. There is just way too much shit being flung around on these threads (excuse my french). But seriously, don't take advice from them, they don't know nearly as much as they should.
I would gladly make a list of my findings, but I'd rather keep this post less cluttered for now. [b]So go ahead, ask away.[/b] I would really like to get this one trending rather than the ill-knowladged ones that are going on right now.
[b]EDIT: Here is the list of my findings:[/b]
[spoiler]-Under/In front of the spire (its on the ground) is another portal guarded by a lone pretorian. On the wall above the portal are red lights connected in a fashion that seems to look like a map of some sort.
-A special musical number plays when you perfectly open the spire (AKA don't let pretorians enter the plates). It is very distinctive. THIS HAS BEEN DUBUNKED. NOT TRUE
-The lights in the ceiling above the first chest are actually just environment lights and have nothing to do with triggers. I was actually the one to theorize about them a while back, and a lot of people caught on. Sadly, they don't mean anything.
-There are boxes everywhere and nobody knows why. I push them off because #YOLO
-There is an alternative path under chest 1.
-Inside the alternative path there are many red lights on the wall. Shooting them will make a spark effect.
-There are at least 4 hidden rooms in the alternative path that seem perfects for some hidden content.
-Upon exiting the alternative path, the first conflux spawns. Its almost like clockwork, like you were meant to take that way.
-There is one red light in the templars area. Its on the left side by the left conflux.
-A 5th chest can spawn when you prevent the templar from teleporting and if it is done under 10 minutes. It contains ascendent materials.
-The spirit bloom chest does not seem to trigger anything. The 5th chest does not disappear when you open it.
-There are a few hidden rooms in the spirit bloom passageway, some are actually pretty big.
-In the gorgons area is 11 'blue flames' on the ground. Standing on it will extinguish them.
-There are about 4 red lights in the gorgons area.
-Above the chests in the gorgons area (on the ceiling) is a pattern that resembles the Vex Mythoclast scope almost exactly. It is really strange. Look up next time you're in there.
-There is a hidden tunnel left of the jumping puzzle. Take the tunnel and jump down about 200 meters where there is another hidden cave.
-Upon taking this hidden tunnel, a second set of platforms spawn and take you to Atheons door.
-A lone vex gate is in the jumping platforms. Getting there is easy, getting back is almost impossible.
-There are red lights outside of Atheons door.
-Atheons door can be opened during the Gatekeeper fight.
-After killing Atheon, time stops. The times is stuck at 0.
-There is a way to activate 'Time Vengeance' after atheon is dead and time is stopped.
-Gorgons respawn in the same exact location about 30 seconds after you kill them. It sucks.
-There is a way to bypass the gorgons 'immunity' that they gain after killing one. If you cycle damage types (i.e. void, arc, solar) per gorgon the immunity won't occur, therefore the gorgons don't 'get stronger'. However, read the bullet above this one[/spoiler]
[b]EDIT 2: Here is a list of theories that have been [u]debunked[/u]:[/b]
[spoiler]-Flawless runs on normal mode (Perfect spire open, no sacrifices, no oracle marking, no teleports, no gorgons gaze, and no deaths.) No chest spawns in the tunnel left of jumping puzzle nor on the lone vex portal.
-Touching all platforms with all members does not do anything special.
-Full fire team of raid gear (without shaders) does not make you immune to gorgons.
-The bubble shield with the blinding ability does not blind gorgons.
-Killing gorgons does not do anything special, they respawn from a cave in the back in about 30 seconds.
-Standing on blue flames in gorgons area does not do anything.
-Having all members stand on the vex portal in the jumping puzzle does not do anything.
-Bringing the relic to the vex portal in the jumping puzzle does not do anything.
-Atheons door cannot be opened after gatekeeper fight with the relic.
-The 'Light in the distance' past behind atheon when he spawns is impossible to get to. Shooting it with the relic does not do anything.
-Bringing the relic to the gorgons maze does not inta-kill gorgons.
-Killing the oracles as they spawn and 'show themselfs' does not spawn a chest.
-Killing atheon without using times vengeance does not seem to spawn a chest, but not everywhere was searched.
-Not opening any chests does not make one appear after atheon where he first spawns. It also does not make the loot better for any of the drops.
-A special musical number does not play for a perfect spire opening. One always plays, it can be different ones but they are RNG'd
-Killing oracles in the order they spawn each round does not drop extra loot or spawn a chest in the templars area. We didn't check the crystal cave though.
-Gorgons do not respawn from a cave in the back, but rather spawn out of thin air about 30 seconds after you kill one. Its super lame.
-The 'map' outside of the spire does not change when you open chests.
-Shooting the red lights in the trail of Kabr does not do anything special. We did this both in order and all at the same time.

Dewey, when you arrive at the maze, from the big jump or where you spaw when you get spot by the gorgon, at that location, if you look foward and up like 11 o´clock, you can see what might look like a passage. Did you tried to go up there? I didnt tried yet, but that keeps nagging me

Just an idea I had. It always shows you how many gorgons have spoted you in the maze. People always thinking that if you keep It at 0 somthing will trigger. ... have you ever tried to be seen by every gorgon at the same time?. Every party member pick a gorgon and at the same time jump infront if it. Will be intresting to see what will happens.

I bet its gonna be some bullshit impossible on the roof chest after doing something random. the you have to make a human ladder to get it or something. a hint at this point would be nice before the next raid comes out

+1 for a clear, concise list that's readable. Unfortunately, I've run out of ideas as well. I still think there's something in the gorgon maze that needs to be triggered, but the fresh, feasible ideas are becoming few and far between. Has anyone tried to get two gorgon to stare each other in the face?? Like forcing one of the patollers to face one of the stationaries... blind each other.

Forgot the grimore for it, think its the templar card, but when you are in his domain have you noticed the (stars) floating lights that seem to fly around and stop and shimmer. If you zoom in on them they look like tiny relics (aegis). Every time i line my sights on them they practically disappeare. I do speculate that something is odd about them but might just be aesthetic. Cant remember the card exsctly but it says the stars will judge your fate or some jam and that, that room was out of place and time before and after the creation of the stars.

Just an idea with the boxes, could they be pushed into the portal zones to keep them open or maybe keep the spire raised once you leave. Just thinking out loud because they seem random and they are the only solid objects in the game you can move. They would have to be used for something.

Edited by madcatz1999: 11/11/2014 6:22:00 PMA couple of notes: Those four lights by the first portal are identical (except slightly smaller) than the ones inside the Trial of Kabr/Templar's Well that sparkle when you shoot them (edit for clarity: the ones outside also sparkle). There's also another portal off to the right. It has the exact same 4-light structure nearby as the middle one.

I have yet to see this brought up, it may seem like a stupid statement, but whenever one person enters the gorgon maze and you traverse back into the Templar well you get marked by negation x4. Could this be leading to anything? Or just trying to force you in the "right" direction.

Did you know the sixth chest is linked to the spirit bloom chest and not dying or getting a notification like the vex sacrificed or getting spotted by gorgons and so on. You can't have anyone on your fireteam die and also you can't start from a checkpoint you need to start at the spire.

Maybe if you shoot all the red lights extinguish the blue flames it could activate it or possibly have someone look at the ceiling with the vex on the part that is identical to the scope it could possibly decrypt something.

The portals after Atheon dies, If there are any secrets this must be where they are. Those portals always open up after his death - we must keep trying!
