Thorn is a hit and run style weapon you have to remove yourself from the primary combat to make it work well. You take out an enamy then run behind cover and reload also you have to build your character around the gun find armor that has increased reload speed for hand cannons. That all being said I do think it could use 2 more shots at least that way I can take out 2 enemies before I have to reload. Also if your using the stability perk on the gun don't, switch to send it its a lot better the recoil on thorn is a lot but its always in the same direction.

You shouldn't have to build a character just to make a gun effective. My Lord High Fixer does comparable damage, has an 11 round mag, literally half the reload time, and the same range. Oh, it also doesn't take up an exotic slot. Yes Thorn has a cool DoT that makes it interesting (and still viable), that helps in PvP, but it really is not all that special when I am spending half my time in a corner reloading instead of helping my team on to victory, especially when there is a legendary that will do that job better P.s: I own both and have done side by side comparisons
-
That is how this game works, if you build your character use any any particular type of weapon then you will get much better results out of it
-
I understand this, but my point is that you should not HAVE TO (keywords here) build your character around ONE weapon just to make it VIABLE (talking about Thorn). These upgrades are to enhance your experience with a weapon you like/find yourself using the most, not just to make one gun actually usable. You should not have to depend on armor perks just to be able to efficiently reload your gun
-
That how the weapon works and once you do that it becomes very effective. This is not a weapon you can just pick up and use its difficult but once you know how to use it its is very very effective
-
*facepalm* You're still completely missing my point. A: it is still not very effective (READ I own it and have done comparisons, it is viable, but I would still not say effective) B: I can think of 3 legendary hand cannons that significantly outperform it WITHOUT having to build every piece of armor in your slot around, and even with the built armor, these are still significantly better than Thorn C: it is ridiculous to seek out, equip, and tediously upgrade an entire set of armor just for the purpose of making one gun actually usable, if you have that luck and time in the first place, good on you, but not many do

Even if you build you character arround a type of weapon, thorn loses the direct comparsion with Lord High Fixer.
-
Exactly my point. In comparison Thorn loses because of its exotic status.

Hmm. For me it is much easier to hit the enemy with the stabilty upgrade. Maybe that is because I am still a beginner in shooter games on the console. =D

Edited by MrPoPo: 11/10/2014 2:50:53 PMIt makes the gun easier to use but the additional range is where you will benefit more you need to keep space between you and your target. The gun is a very difficult weapon to use and you have to get used to it to get better with it. If i stop using it for a week or so then when i go to use it again I can barley hit anything with it. It is alot different then PC gaming too

Yes it is very different from PC playing. Here I can abuse the fact that my enemy has to turn arround very slowly (or they abuse it ;) ). This is why I think the teleport jump is very powerful. I will give it a try with the range upgrade. Thanks for the suggestion.
