Thorn is a handgun that has a "damage over time" (dot) effect. It is an exotic weapon which can be aquired via a relatively hard exotic bounty.
Generally I am satisfied with the damage Thorn has. But it is not the damage that makes me think that Thorn should not be an exotic weapon. It has 6 bullets in a magazine and a reload time out of hell.
The general situation in pvp for me is the following:
There is an enemy. I shoot at him, I miss once but the enemy is dead. I now have 2 bullets left. Too few shots to kill a second enemy. I cannot reload because it almost takes 3 seconds to do so. So I have to switch weapons while going into cover.
Even if I manage to survive that I can only switch back to my Thorn when there is absolutely nothing arround me. Now I have to switch weapons AND have to reload. This is arround 4 seconds now where I am cursed to wait..
If I compare Thorn to Lord High Fixer, I cannot say that Thorn is better. It should be. It is exotic and takes much more effort to get it than any other exotic I know.
In PvE I think the weapon lacks of DPS.
What are your opinions about that weapon?

Edited by Ve7n00m: 11/10/2014 11:39:14 AMI haven't used it in PVP but I don't play a great deal of it. In PVE it rules, even with only 6 in the chamber I prefer it to my The Devil You Know. I like to take my time when playing though, I don't rush Strikes or Story missions so the reload time is completely irrelevant to me, ducking into cover to reload and going for the head all day long, with my P&T or Ice Breaker in my special slot, BLAM! If I was to buff it though I'd add 2 more bullets to the chamber and a perk that makes the final bullet deal a poison AOE blast, which damages nearby enemies over time as well. I'm very interested to see how Bungie actually does Buff it.
