I watched the video... and I'm not convinced. For one thing, this Ultra Captain boss? He's literally just a big captain. So... obviously he's a placeholder. Every strike boss has had its own unique appearance (For example, compare the Archon Priest to, say, Draksis, or the Archon Rising dude in the Cosmodrome that has a chance of spawning for target kill missions, or Phogoth to normal Ogres). For another thing, there was no special animations. Literally the dregs just popped into being behind the player when he walked out of the room to trigger their spawning mechanic. The boss, too, just blinked into existence - not in a specific spot, either, but in some random corner. It could be explained that the Ultra Captain was just a miniboss, like the Devil Walker in the Devil's Lair strike. But the complete lack of special effects on even basic levels doesn't sound to me like a finished encounter, or finished part of the game period. And let's not forget how the dude got in there to begin with. You think that maybe one of the reasons why Bungie didn't put it out was because people could do THAT and break in? Face the facts; this is UNFINISHED. Yes there are pieces in the game, but that's all they are -- PIECES. And pieces do not make a whole.

  • But it's not, it's done. The way he came in made them spawn weird like that, but if you come the other way as if you were normally playing this part, everything spawns and acts as it does in the rest of the game.

Almost, if not all bosses are bigger versions of normal enemies.

  • You do know the Archon Priest in the strike mission of Venus is just a big captain with a different texture? In fact, all of the bosses in the game are just the same enemy with a different texture. Gate Lord - the bosses in the black garden, Atheon Cabal Colossus - Valus Fallen Captain - All the Archon Priests and the Winter Kell Servitor - Sepiks Prime Ogre - Phogoth its pretty damn disappointing really. This mission is too short to be a strike and is probably going to be another short story mission with very little to explain. "Ultra Captain bad, kill, the queen wants him dead because he abandoned the House of Wolves." You kill him and then Dinklebot pats you on the shoulder, the end. No cutscene.

  • ALL strike bosses in the game are just retextured enemies with massive health pools. The only real exception is Sepiks Prime, what with his teleporting around and close up vaporizer. My point was that he is, quite literally, a stock captain who's a little bigger. the Archon Priest, while behaviorally another captain (like the other Fallen bosses, excluding Sepiks Prime), at least has a unique look to him. But, like you said, there isn't a whole lot there, so maybe it's a story mission. I do apologize for tunnel visioning on a strike, mostly because of the video referring to it as one. But even so, he's still likely a placeholder, because "Ultra Captain" doesn't really sound like an end mission boss name. What I am hoping for is that this boss guy enters the arena via the smashed window the player used, or even smash through it themselves. THAT would be awesome, and a nice change from "enemies walk out of dark tunnels" for spawning.

  •
He's literally just a big captain
Aren't all the other Fallen bosses? Apart from Sepiks of course. He's a big servitor.

Actually, most aren't quite captains. The Archon Priest, for example, behaves more like Draksis, the Winter Kell, and Riksis, the Devil Archon. Yes, there is a difference, actually, and not just because of their louder voices and roaring. Captains tend to only teleport side to side to avoid incoming fire. The Archon archtype teleport much further, and aggressively use it to close the distance to perform an AoE stomp, whereas captains only melee by punching you. Still, though, all Fallen bosses besides Sepiks are, in essence, the same anyway... :P

  • Finally someone with the ability to think, well said. This is most likely a boss in one of the story missions, because of the easy health and def is not finished because every boss at least has a specific name let alone a distinct appearance. It's probably a lvl 20 story in the works, and this is just to help them get the ball rolling when they continue working on it.

  • People seem to forget the DLC is also getting new story missions - I am willing to bet this is not the new strike. If you follow this video and enter that boss room you can follow it back to the sealed glass doors that separate this new zone from the rocketyard. It's incredibly short. Far too short to be a strike.

  • True. I admit I was just going along with OP's and the guy in the video's assertion that it was the new strike and didn't think to consider a story mission. I still don't think it's complete, though, simply because 1) there is no spawning animation, like how Fallen normally appear (either crawling down from the ceiling or from dark tunnels) and 2) "Ultra Captain" is a pretty lousy name for an end of mission boss.

  • I agree, not too sure its a strike mission, its more than likely just going to be a story mission.... a very short one and you can only play that mission when you pay $19.99 for the House of Wolves Expansion
