The Truth from Someone Who Has Handled It For A While

Once upon a Xur day a long long time ago... I saw a post about Patience and Time, which Xur happened to be selling that day. See, the odd/wonderful thing about it was that it wasn't about dividing the community between self-imposed terms such as 'earners' and 'non-earners'. It was simply a review of the weapon from someone that had used it in the spirit of informing everyone who had/has not. I'm just someone looking to continue that tradition. On to the task at hand. The Truth was the first exotic I ever received. It came in the form of a legendary engram in the mail after a particularly dastardly round of crap shoot versus the Cryptarch - these were the days of the old version 1.0 Cryptarch, The Tyrant of the Tower, The Butcher of Engrams ... you get the point. Anyway, the legendary heavy weapon engram I got from levelling up the Cryptarch turned into the Truth. Gjallarhorn may be the king of launchers but the Truth is very powerful in it's own right. It has a quick reload speed and it's rate of fire allows you to fire off your two rockets in quick succession. It laughs in the face of Void shields as it punches through them with ease and cuts right to the enemy's health bar with the first rocket - very useful when doing weekly heroic or nightfall when Void burn is active. Also useful in the Vault of Glass where the Vex all use Void shields. Praetorians and Minotaurs will be begging you to lie to them. When upgraded with the ability to detonate rockets early based on proximity to targets and the ability to track targets if you launch while aiming down the sights the Truth can really start to beast. The most useful feature of the Truth, compared to most other launchers, is that it becomes very easy to hit the target you were aiming at. In PvP it becomes a matter of simply firing at your intended target as soon as you see them rather than spending precious seconds calculating where best to aim for a moving target. The rockets travel quite fast, making them hard to dodge, and detonation based on proximity combined with a decent amount of splash damage gets the job done. Although not having as wide an area of effect as the Gally (there is no escaping that thing) if tightly packed enough you can kill a group of 2 or 3 Guardians with the Truth. In summary it's a very good launcher to use in PvP due to it's proximity based warheads and it's tracking ability. Also, If you happen to be doing the Thorn bounty the Truth becomes indispensable. In PvE it may not do as much damage on impact as the Gally, which splits into submunitions that do extra damage upon impact, but it is none the less a great launcher to use because it almost never misses getting a hit on the target you aimed at. Have fun out there.
