The true 2nd chest is located in the alternate route to the Templar. The 7th is found after defeating Atheon. The Vex Mythoclast is involved. Finding all 7 chests will bring about the end screen.
Below is the a theory based on a conversation that I overheard while in a group chat with a certain clan.
You know that teleporter that everyone is talking about? Well it teleports you to the 7th chest. Why do you think there is no end screen? Because once you beat Atheon, there is a way to go back to the teleporter. Once there, it will be open and be ready to use ONLY IF you found chests 1-6 and have met the final requirement related to the Atheon boss fight. Upon opening this chest, you will be brought to the end screen. This final area where the chest is located is the true "vault". Why would they not include a end screen? They obviously didn't forget about the end screen. It's just that most of us have actually never 100% completed the raid, warranting a end screen. The 6th is actually technically the 2nd as states above, and is located along the alternate route to the Templar.
Also, the vex mythoclast is involved somehow. My guess, kill Atheon while only using the Vex Mythoclast. Why? Because everyone in this fireteam of 6 had it equipped after the raid. Coincidence? Maybe.
After reading some of the posts below, much of what I said has already been discussed. But I hope some of this information will help anyone who has the means to find these two chests.

Not true, I done the raid this week 4 people left after killing atheon got all the chests possible. There is no 6th or 7th chest. After the 4 left the 2 remaining we're taken to kill page and bount page. None of us used the vex either, everyone at bungie is watching at laughing at you idiots

You can't say nobody beat the vault.there is a counter for that, it appears when you beat atheon in form of grimoire card.

Whole raid having 6 mytho's? Seems like a whole of rng to deal with to get a chest or being ok to exclude people from a raid just because they dont have it and everybody else wants to get the chest. Seems like a lot of talk to me, I love my suros right now but if a myth droped for me of course I would switch and use it. Them all having/using isnt a big shock, met a guy who was using it but didnt like it, just used it for the prestige of it.

You'd use it right up until you ran out of ammo, again. Then you'd be like 3 mags with the extended battery!? Wtf! Then you'd shelve it like most everyone else.

Edited by PatientZero4018: 11/5/2014 7:03:46 PMok heres the prob the alt route to the templar everyone in my group took the alt route went through the whole thing last night there was no extra chest so i can confirm this is false 2ndly the teleporter outside atheon how would you get to it cuz the door is shut after everyone in your group enters the room..

If you melee the door in the Atheon room the door opens. Try it out.

Are u ps4. I'd like to test this out. Was talking to a guy on line and he also said he got it after he beat atheon he said there's a 5 min window after to get to it. Was just talking about it today and psn went down on us. So didn't get to try it yet

How do you say the true 2nd chest is in the secret path? Do you know where or how? With proof? Even if you dont have proof, Id still like to test it out to see if its true... My gt is my user name on here... xbox 360 if any one wants to add me.

There's a spot in the alternate route that looks like a place where a chest would spawn. No clue as to how it is triggered. Just a theory and speculation based off of what I heard from a clan. That alternate route has to be there for a reason other than just being an alternate route to the templar. There are some YouTube videos of people showing off the spot where the supposed 2nd chest will spawn. Most people I've talked to swear there are people out there who have triggered it. It only contains ascendant materials like some of the others.

I have faith in this theory, however, I believe that you should have maxed and equipped the complete set of raid gear. You end up looking like a Vex, it could be linked to the portal/Vex Timegate out in the chasm.

I don't think this is the answer! Why make a chest appear when you have full raid gear etc? Have you seen people's luck in the raid? I've raided so many times I've lost count and only received a chest piece! They wouldn't make it that way when their drops are shit!

That's pretty unfortunate, however it's only just now I've been unlucky. I still need the chest armor went through the raid 4-5 times now without anything, however I got every other piece in a row, so if Xûr has a chest piece soon, I might just buy that and hit lvl 30 that way.

Thaaaaat sounds like a lot of talk, and nothing to show for it. I'm sure people have explored all of the 'secret' way to the Templar.

Ya wearing only vex armor using only raid weapons. Specific to thw meytho. Would hate to put alpha lupi on the self but id jist love my raid helmet then work on the mytho and id love to try it lol
