Almost all the psn friends I on my list have at least one female character. I don't though. I have all exo males because the awoken and human male options for customizing face/hair/ etc are so gay. I have no problem with people who make a character of the opposite sex than they are.

Edited by Shpip: 11/2/2014 4:40:27 PMYeah, I wish I could change my human Titan to an Exo. Thank you for being understanding and respectful of other players! :D

Too bad he isn't respectful to other people, just a couple players in a game.

Elaborate.

Calling literally anything "so gay"
-
Oh, okay. Well, the thing with people saying that is because it's just part of cultural assimilation. It's, sadly, a common way to describe something as negative. I don't think he's necessarily insulting gay people, but I agree, we as a society should try to tread away from using that term like that.

It doesn't matter how you intend it, calling things gay as a derogatory term means "This is comparable to gay people in terms of how terrible it is." In situations like civil rights, not actively helping is functionally identical to actively harming. Saying "nah, it's cool, he doesn't actually hate gay people" is meaningless when he's saying "this is as abhorrent as being gay." It does not matter if he uses those words to the intent of "I sure think gay folks are swell," because the only effect words have is what others hear.

If you want to be offended, that's all on you. I already said I wasn't a fan of it. If you truly would like to change his mind and how he speaks, address him, rather than myself. You'll get better results that way. You do want this to change, correct? Or are you simply looking for something to be offended over? The average person does not associate that word, if used in a specific context, to homosexual people. People say it because it's just a new code word that the brain can identify to express an emotion or thought. This doesn't necessarily mean they're comparing bad things to gay people, even though that's what the word is primarily linked with. It means the brain noticed a pattern in human interaction, and it mimicked it to portray something. You could say lame, and the brain would still follow the same logical path to understand. It happens for the same reason Atheists will say: "Oh my God". They don't believe there is a God, but the term is used as an expression of surprise, shock, etc. You can't sidestep context as if it doesn't exist.

I'm not offended, I'm a straight white male. Nothing can hurt my feelings. That doesn't make it not objectively insulting to call things gay. Have a great day.

Only if you perceive it that way. Bye.
