• "What if" the consumers/community could actually be a catalyst for change? What will all of the nay-sayers say then? If you allow yourself to believe that you don't have a voice simply because Activision/Bungie are big companies than please just step to the back and let those who believe differently express themselves without ridicule. There's no reason to attack each other, call each other names or down right attempt to offend someone if you don't agree with what they are trying to do. Gaming for some is a great passion. For years Bungie has been a developer who has helped cultivate that passion and has implored its community to see themselves as part of the creative process. So please, stop feeling so bad for them when you read things like this. If they were some B-rated developer without the pedigree of a successfully epic franchise this game would have been a "whoa, no one saw that coming! Imagine the possibilities! "entry. Instead this game is a watered down version of their worst efforts in the past. It wasn't revolutionary, it was a slap in the face and is proof positive of how little effort is required from some developers to make BIG money. It's one thing to suggest that they couldn't bring their full vision to fruition due to limitations, it's another to proclaim what they did produce as "OK, "Good", or heaven forbid "Great". My God this game should have been scrubbed before being released as is. It's a mockery to their loyal fan base that knew what they were capable of 10plus yrs ago! So yea, I think a little bad press generated by the actual players is a great thought. Do you have any idea what effect bad press like this can have on a product? You don't think our voices matter? Read the reviews, the follow ups, and the interviews done by Forbes, IGN, Polygon, etc... It's no secret to Bungie or anyone else that this game didn't come close to offering what was promised and that it's current state seems uninspired and hollow in contrast to the expectations they helped promote! I think this a great idea, if you don't, move along and save your insults for another day. If something ever came out of this sort of thing, you'd all be the first to to jump on the band wagon and claim you agreed with the people who cared enough to challenge the status quo. No one's asking you to march onto the streets in front of their head quarters, no ones asking you to do anything or to alter your life at all. So why the hate? This isnt about entitlement. It's not about getting things for free because people are unhappy. It's about holding a company accountable. Destiny wasn't advertised as some unfolding, fluid community experiment. A term they've become really conformable using lately. It was touted as a complete, rich experience that was going to revolutionize gaming. The game has been out now for months and rather than improving its gotten worse. Guys/Gals that's unaccetable for a title like this from a developer with the pedigree of Bungie. They made a HUGE mistake addressing things like nerfing guns and "fixing" the exploits in the raids before dealing with actual problems with the game. And they haven't even been able to get that right. At all! This sort of incompetence is expected from a new developer, a start up. Not a huge one like Bungie with the backing of Activision and a budget larger than some small countries! Usually when a developer runs into unforeseen issues, there's an apology, it's fixed, people are satisfied and move on. But the way things have been handled thus far it's more disappointing. Bungie used to be a "Hero" in this industry. They represented us, the players and prided themselves on having a connection to their community like no one else. Now they talk like a major corporation. They don't address issues in their communications. Instead we get, hey how about those pumpkin heads that only worked for 30% of you? Pretty cool hugh? And you didn't even have to pay for it!? All they did with that epic gimic fail was prove how truly incompetent they've become. Anyway, the only reason I wrote was to respond to all the negativity about the negativity. There's no need for it. Sure, you can tell someone to quit playing the game and go away just as easily as you could tell yourself to not get involved in a conversation you have no interest in or see no point to. I just hate seeing people argue when there really isn't anything to argue about. You have your opinions and others have theirs. Obviously there are plenty of folks who are satisfied but there seems to be more that aren't. Decide who you are and leave the others alone. I think most would agree that at this point, having Bungie admit to a certain degree of failure and to ackowledge the major shift of direction they went with this game after firing their lead writer would be a major victory for the community in and of itself. I don't see anything wrong with wanting to hear that.
