People earn their weapons/armour.
I am confused about posts that say "you didn't earn this", "you didn't earn that", "Xur should be removed", etc. etc. etc.
If you did a Tiger Strike and it dropped - you earned it by fighting your way through to the end
If you did Nightfall and it dropped - you earned it by fighting your way through to the end
If you did 28 Weekly and it dropped - you earned it by fighting your way through to the end
If you did the Raid - you earned it
If you bought it from Xur - you earned those strange coins by doing numerous events
The only exception I would say is a random drop in the Crucible, where you get something no matter how good or bad you played. That's not really "earned" as such..... but playing over and over and over in PvP, some people might consider it "earning by enduring PvP"
Long and short of it .... playing is earning, noone should be upset someone else is getting stuff they already have as it does not affect their game in any way. This is mainly a PvE game where you HELP each other.
That's my tuppence on it.
EDIT 1: Thank you Gaslight. Yes, Exotic Bounties also count. An oversight on my part.
EDIT 2: Thank you Maledious. I do not advocate AFK players getting rewards.
EDIT 3: I apologise if this post seemed like a complaint. It wasn't. I only seek to understand people's feelings on the matter and try to make us a more tolerant and better community.
EDIT 4: Please post why you are upset that other people get gear and you don't. Does it affect your game? It is more of an affront to the time you have put in and gotten nothing from it?
EDIT 5: Changed "tired" to "confused about" as the original word didn't really reflect my intentions.

I agree with everything you've said. I actually posted a similar thread a couple days ago. A good idea that came up in the thread was that Xur could possibly increase the prices of the exotics he sells being that it seems much too easy to stockpile coins in a week or two in addition to transferring coins from another character. With it the way it is now, it is rather simple to buy 2 or even 3 items from him by the time the weekend comes around. In addition, I'm not complaining, but I have grown tired of people saying "you think you're entitled" or "you didn't earn it". Yes, there is a fine line when it comes to how you earn it, but regardless after all the hours people have put in, I think many of us have indeed earned what we have gotten. I will not deny that luck is a factor and the RNG could use some tweaking as well.
