I actually like the gunslinger in PvE. But they should allow the golden gun crits for headshots. In PvP a hit from it is a one shot kill anyways so that wouldn't hurt them either.
Otherwise he has his uses in my opinion. Clearing up groups of lesser enemies with gg set to overpenetrate and make targets explode is pretty effective.
He is just weak when it comes to bosses. But this would be improved by allowing the golden gun to crit.
The bladedancer on the other hand is meant to be a PvP spec anyway in my opinion as he is not usable a lot in PvE.

What game are you playing, bladedancer is -blam!-ing awesome in pve at clearing groups of thrall or vex, it just needs to generate more orbs or be buffed to take out praetorians in two hits not ten.

Guess I'm so used to the lightswitch modifier by now that I never use either baldedancer nor striker ever in PvE. I consider both of them to be too squishy in most encounters because they either get killed a lot or are not able to carry their super to the enemy at all. And as both the gunslinger and the defender perform really good in PvE in my opinion there is just no reason to even try it. I like both striker and bladedancer in PvP (... considering that I don't like PvP in general^^) but I feel they are outperformed by their respective counterparts tremendously.
