Hey all, I have been coordinating with my clan to do an educational run of the Vault of Glass for those that have never run it before or those who would like a more in depth look at some of the useful tactics to defeat Destiny's greatest challenge thus far.
Based on the responses I have already received in a few separate threads, I wouldn't doubt there will be more interested players than I could hope to group with in a short period of time. Not to worry though, I will do my best to get everyone here a crack at the vault and a solid working knowledge on how to best it, whether it take one weekend or a dozen.
Some of my clanmates will likely help along the way, and while this is not a push to expand my clan, if you enjoy your time with us our doors are always open.
If learning the VoG is an interest of yours, please keep up with the updates below!
As a short aid for those joining these runs, here is what you should be expected to bring to the table:
o Character level 27+ (87 Light). Yes, the raid is level 26; however, the mobs' levels graduate to 28 over the course of the raid, which leaves level 26 players at a -40% damage hit and an increased chance for death. This can easily be achieved with 1 exotic and 1 legendary armor piece, both of which aren't too difficult to obtain. A combination of 1 Exotic, 2 Legendary, and 1 Rare(18 Light) items can get you there without any shards spent.
o Void Damage. The only enemy shields present in the vault are those belonging to Minotaurs/Praetorians, and void damage is a must to break these. While only one weapon of this damage type is necessary, the more the merrier.
o Leveled-up Weapons. I don't expect new players to the raid to have maxed out gear, but take some effort to improve the damage of the weapons you intend to bring into the raid. I still see level 29/30s trying to do the hard raid without maxed special/heavy.
o Time. A VoG run involving 4 first timers takes roughly 2-3 hours to complete. While this may seem like a lot, especially to some veterans, this time includes the following:
----- In depth tactics for each section of the raid.
----- Dedicated time for each individual to have practice time utilizing the relic
----- Legit Templar defeat, including at least 5 attempts at a no-teleport defeat
----- Destroying a Gorgon for everyone to achieve that grimoire card
----- Allowing all players to experience each area of responsibility during Gatekeepers
----- Thus far, 100% success ratio completing the raid with a group containing 4 first-timers
TUTORIALS COMPLETED: 21
o Patience. There will be wipes. People will make mistakes, die, fall of ledges, hold up the group in one way or another. I am being extraordinarily patient in offering this service when I have no need to run the normal raid ever again. I ask that my participants share in that level of patience for the benefit of all involved.
UPDATE 12/08/14: The Dark Below will release in less than 24 hours, and as a result, my focus will be geared toward learning and teaching the new raid. I will no longer be doing sign-ups for VoG; however, I will take pre-assembled 4-player teams through if they coordinate a time with me.
Raids will be streamed @ twitch.tv/ultima_mg

This weekend's times are posted! Sign up while spots are open! Side Note: Stop using this thread for LFGs, please and thank you.

You are awesome, btw. Do you (or anyone else for that matter) know if anyone has a similar Xbox One thread up? I tried to get my first ever raid going the other night on here (DestinyLFG looked dead at the time) and was knocked back constantly. It seemed people were only willing to take 29-30's even in normal just so they could rinse through it quickly.

Starting December 9th, you can count me in as extra assistance. I've run VoG before but there are still some things I have not done yet. I would also like helping out.

Im up for sunday, lvl 29 hunter

Had a great time completing the raid for the first time with these guys. Very helpful tutorial and extraordinary patience with helping first timers. If you need help with your first time on VoG I highly recommend signing up for a spot with these guys. Also a great clan, it's great to find a group of cool people to connect with on Destiny.
-
If anybody is yet to run the VoG and is looking to, I recommend keeping tabs on this thread and reserving a spot when one is available. Cool group of guys here and they are extremely helpful, patient and detailed when it comes to breaking down the raid piece by piece. Cheers.

Had a blast with my first VOG experience! I was on the Sunday raid with first timers confide24 and shadywoo(their comments below) and with the help Ultima and others of the Asteroid M group we completed it on normal. Ultima takes you through the entire raid step by step and explains exactly when and how you should do things to make for a better experience and is extremely patient with first timers. I'd like to thank everyone who was involved in the Sunday raid with me and once I level up to 30 I will be coming back to complete it on hard. Thanks again bro!

This looks perfect, I wish I had come across it earlier.
