Bungie believes Destiny is doing well because it is. Millions of people are still playing this game daily, almost two months after launch, despite no real new content being released. Yes, most players (especially those at level 20+) are grinding, but that's what you're SUPPOSED to do after endgame. Plus, let's get real here. If a player finds that Destiny is a chore....more work than fun, as you say...then he or she should just stop playing it. Gaming is supposed to be fun, not work. However, millions are still playing. Destiny is doing just fine. It may not be YOUR cup of tea, but clearly it's struck a chord with many, many people. And yes, Halo: Master Chief Collection is coming. That's not going to affect three out of the four platforms where Destiny is available. And even on Xbox One, I bet many will come right back to Destiny once they've had their Halo fix.

  • What their metrics fail to account for is time spent in orbit, or if their disconnects are being counted as a user logging in Have friends who afk in orbit for hours without joining a game, I'll have destiny up with tv snapped just to see if people get on (they don't) So before using their numbers for success! First understand the terms the data was collected under as their is likely quite a few skewing those numbers... Personally I log on Tuesday, full clear hard raid, maybe do nightfall... Come back a week later. The reason for all the hate is we WANT to love this game but the current (lack of) content and prioritized updates shows an extreme disconnection from the player base and the devs. From a pure business standpoint, the way this game has been received makes it a failure. No business invests 500m to break EVEN. They do it for a profit and started how many years ago? This game is a losing proposition right now. There needs to be a major turn around to make this a true success and give the game the ability for a true sequel. At this point I would not purchase destiny 2 and would be willing to recommend against it. Only sticking around for dlc because I got the Gaurdian edition, won't be making purchases like that again. #endrant

  • Couldn't agree more. Reminds me of the gear grind at end level in WoW which granted isn't entirely enjoyable (although running around clearing trash with The Last Word is thoroughly enjoyable), but that's what you should be expecting from an MMO. And people should stop comparing it to halo. The similarities stop at the beeping noise when your shield drops.

  • Since when is keeping gamers occupied for two months an accomplishment? Madden does better than that with glorified roster updates every single year.

2 months in a 10 year window is just a sliver. the grind itself has hardly any variety and hardly any rewards...its almost impossible for me to find upgrades...short of the Hard Raid and Nightfalls....I dont need anything....I'd be happy to run 100% crucible but there just isnt enough variety or competition...its not what i know bungie is capable of for PvP and honestly im disapointed with that as much as the lack of diversity within the missions.... If this was their first game, maybe id be judging them a litle less harshly..
