For all you know that could be the first boss of the raid, basically the equivalent of Templar.
Oryx maybe?
To be honest I'm confused on whether Oryx or Crota is the more powerful one.

Money says Oryx is another one of the black darkness blobs found in the black garden. A few years from now we will go to the hive home planet and righteously smite it. Possibly after facing 3 large knights.

Oryx is their God-King. Crota is the Knight Leader which destroyed all the Guardians and basically said [b]"Moon is MINE. Earth is NEXT!"[/b]

Oryx could always be the name of the shrine itself, it doesn't necessarily have to imply that the name of the god is Oryx

They actually do say orxy is a god. That crota will pave the way for orxy. Their god king.

Isn't oryx more of a god and Crota like a king type figure? Considering it's the fall or carat raid the final boss will def be crota I do hope that we can eventually murder there god tho XD

I believe Oryx is the hive's god king and Crota is his right hand.

I actually expected that Crota was their King, and he'd be the final boss of the story missions, and that the Raid would be stopping the resurrection of Oryx, their God, who would be weakened by Crota's death. The grimoire for the Spawn of Crota says "Crota's spawn will snuff out the worlds of Light, and Oryx's coming shall be unfettered." Blood of Oryx says ""They are the shadow of an unknown master, harbingers of a power beyond anything we've faced." This was before I knew of the Raid.

Oryx does sound like more of a threat than Crota.I hope we can beat the crap out of him at some point.
