Personally, I think its an annoying, cheesy, and artificial "difficulty boost" and a detriment to the game.
I feel this way because it doesn't actually increase the difficulty at all, it just encourages you to play differently than you ever did before, and that playstyle is not fun.
Hiding behind rocks, under platforms, and in entrance rooms that despawn adds, etc. is boring as hell, unenjoyable, and unheroic. It really doesn't jive thematically with the rest of the game. And yes, you could do it legit, but when the threat of failure is being kicked to orbit and losing an hour of my time, I have literally no incentive to ever try it that way. I value my time.
I'd much prefer all cheese spots be removed from boss encounters, and the encounters be made more difficult by design, not with the threat of wasting my time.

I think it's an interesting feature, however the Strike itself should not have artificial difficulty. It could be really interesting if implemented a little better.
