Reforge/Reroll

I recently read the latest Bungie Weekly Update 10/24/2014. I was really interested to find out that the Timur's Lash hand cannon was able to be re-rolled, but I'm curious as to why all weapons aren't able to be re-rolled. Seeing as how Destiny has a plethora of MMO type attributes I thought this would be one of them so I want to persuade and inform you at to why this would be valuable to the overall gameplay. Now to start it off last year in your development ViDoc's it was shown that weapons would have levels of their own implying that you could gain a weapon and level it up which genuinely excited me. Now while I am familiar with that mechanic coming from a background of playing the free-to-play MMO Warframe in which you would level weapons up to add various power ups. But I doubt that many of the consumer's that Destiny is geared towards would have appreciated that. Remembering that while I read the weekly update made me wonder why we aren't able to re-roll some if not all of the perks of a weapon for a hefty price. I know that some guns have set attributes that never change; those guns are mainly Exotic weapons, but as players are able to see at the vanguard or crucible quartermasters the perks on the weapons change with each restock. Now I get that you could simply buy the weapon again but what about the time spent gaining experience for said weapon only to get perks that aren't up to expectations or what if we come across a very rare exotic weapon that happens to have perks that most deem useless. Why not let us re-roll the weapon we have or even certain perks if you'd be so kind. Here's a scenario for you: a player finishes the Weekly Nightfall Strike after hours of hard work and sweat. The player finds a Bad JuJu. While it's String of Curses perk will ultimately come in handy the weapon also has the Hip Fire perk which as you know only increases stability when firing from the hip. For someone like myself firing from the hip with a pulse rifle is just something I don't do often unless in dire situations making this perk useless for me. What if we could change that perk? I wouldn't care if it meant having to do something drastic like spend 100 Vanguard or Crucible marks just to change it and level it up again, it's still better than having a perk that wouldn't help me. I like the idea of even re-rolling all the perks of a weapon (unless it's a signature one) but only doing it when reaching special requirements or level the weapon all the way back up. TL;DR: Let us re-roll the perks of a weapon that we don't find useful to our play style. Especially on exotic and legendary weapons, maybe even armor.

    • It's a great idea, OP. It would be a wonderful way to make the Gunsmith at the Tower relevant again. Sadly; Bungie doesn't give two shits about the PvE side of the game. Every update has been for the PvP side, even at the expense of some weapons becoming less than worthless in PvE after balancing everything so that it works for the PvP community. Every. Single. Update. Goes to promote PvP at the expense of further damaging the PvE experience. So no; while your idea is great, Bungie won't include it. Apparently PvP players are the only players that get to reroll base stats and perks on weapons if they aren't happy with it. PvP side: bleh... I don't like this weapons perks, Saladin, reforge this for me please? Saladin: Sure thing. PvE side: Ew... I don't like this weapons perks, where can I go to make it better? Bungie: Too bad, deal with what you got. If you wanted anything cool, you should've been in PvP. Don't agree? Look at the updates and prove me wrong.
