Do you also complain that games like CoD have 'too much PvP' compared to the PvE? No? Interesting...

 • lol CoD is a pvp game...thats the point of them - id love to honestly meet at least one person that buys CoD for its campaign missions exclusively

 • lol Exactly :) To be honest... I'm not sure i know (m)any people that have played through the campaigns on the last couple... They just seem to get worse and worse; culminating in the giant steaming pile that was Ghosts lol :p Am i going to buy AW though? Of course i am... With the state of Destiny PvP as it is, what else is there? :p

 • "...got like 1/2 way through thecampagain - gave up lol " I think you still managed to get further than i did lol I got to the bit where i was playing as a dog and i thought "Yeah, f*ck this i'm going to capture some flags" lol I have a couple of Clan mates very much looking forward to Dragon Age too; they are similarly obsessed about now lol :D The other game i was excited for was The Evil Within, but the controls on the PC are SO bad it actually makes it unenjoyable :(

 • the difference is that right from the Start menu, a game like CoD as two completely different and non-interacting game modes: Single Player and Multiplayer. With the setup of Destiny (you only have 1 option at the Start menu) you have to play PvP for certain aspects of the game (Exotic bounties,ALL faction gear other than pure-Vanguard, etc...). It would be like only being able to get scopes and extended mags in CoD MP by completing the Campaign: many people who play CoD have 0% interest in single player.

 • You don't "have to play PvP" at all in Destiny; there are a few Bounties that require you to go into PvP, but you don't *have* to do them. Let's face it, none of the weapons that require PvP are really worth the effort anyway at the moment lol There is the Crucible, and the Iron Banner - There are rewards and fun to be had there, but you don't *have* to play them at all. You can get full level 30, with a full selection of Legendary And Exotic gear, from never having stepped foot inside the Crucible; you don't even have to PvP to get Crucible Marks for Gods sakes (Re: "ALL faction gear other than pure-Vanguard"); you can hand in materials you have happily farmed on a planet and get a load of Marks for doing nothing more dangerous than picking Spirit Blooms! :p

 • Like all of us want to take how long farming just to get those marks? Strikes should get it too. Like an ability to switch to crucible marks from vanguard like changing rep to faction only. Could make the marks faction only as well.

 • Of course there are nuances to it, but for the "average" player farming 50x Spirit Bloom to get 1x Crucible Mark (of which you need 65-150 for 1x piece of gear/weapon) is a disproportionately lengthy process. Kind of like tickets at the arcade:..."can't I just pay $5.00 USD for that stuffed bear instead of 25,000 tickets from ski ball?" I personally don't mind Crucible that much...I just think it is the worst/least developed part of the game and is pretty bland. You have 4 planets to explore with varied terrain, environments, features, etc...room for 24 on 24 matches if you wanted....yet all you do is play 6v6 on the SAME THREE Control maps? Gimme a break.

 • Re: the exchange rate: It is actually "The exchange rate is currently 50 materials for 5 Vanguard/Crucible marks, 25 Vanguard/Crucible Rep, and 200 Glimmer" Taken from: http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Material This means that in one hour, you can (easily) get the 50 for one exchange. Compare this to an average PvP game which takes, what, 15 minutes start to finish? And assuming an average W/L ratio of 50%, you are looking at 5 Crucible Marks for 30 minutes of actual Crucible playing. This means that farming materials takes (only) twice as long as *actual* PvP combat, it provides a HUGE amount of glimmer from chests/mobs (to pay for all those Heavy Ammo synthesis!) as well as opportunities for rare chest spawns and mobs dropping engrams too. Personally speaking (and this is coming from someone who has played MMO's for more years than they care to remember lol) you can semi-AFK farm Blooms/Relic Iron/Helium filaments whilst half watching a film, whereas you really can't with PvP lol Personally i actually find the farming relaxing; it's almost meditative, and it's a great way to de-stress after a long day :)

 • Pretty sure the conversion is 50 to 5. That's the price you pay if you don't want to step into the crucible.

 • lol - i read your post - but i really loved your example with the skiball tickets - I dont know a single person that hasnt thought the same damn thing at one point in time hahaha

 • "I just think [The Crucible] is the worst/least developed part of the game and is pretty bland" I absolutely agree with you on this part; i love PvP usually, but the Crucible really does feel like it has been 'tacked on' to the main game; and considering how we have had games for years that offer 16 vs 16 (MAG anyone? Ground War even on the PS3 with bigger battles...) it really baffles me how a 'Next Gen' game, with a pedigree of the likes of Halo, can somehow have such an utterly uninspiring PvP - There are no Private Lobbies (so the competitive scene is not going to happen...) there are no Theatre Modes, there are no 'big' battles to speak of either, not to mention the horrific net coding issues that have driven people crazy since launch too! I really feel like with Destiny, PvP has taken a step backwards, rather than being the 'next generation' of game that we were all expecting :(

 • yeah even if (mind you i said IF ) i disagreed with everything you said there - I would still agree that this does not feel like a next gen game - this feels exactly like this last generation of games - now, dragon age - that one already feels next gen - i hope they do everything right
