If I beat a game but still wouldn't be able to explain to a stranger the plot of it, there is something wrong with the story.

I agree, Burn after Reading is a movie that I really disliked because the plot made no difference. Stuff just happened in the movie. In Destiny though there is a plot and it can be explained. The core plot I wrote above is an example of this.

You are missing the point. I shouldn't have to go online and read about the core story. I should understand it from playing the game. Wasn't a problem in halo. Destiny does an awful job of story telling. Not only that but you can't "rush through the story" it's impossible. Can't skip cut scenes

I didn't get online to read about the core story. This all comes from within the game itself. Do you see my point. I only took what was in the game and posted it here. If you read the other replies other people got this same story from playing through the game. Now whether or not Destiny does an awful job at storytelling is another issue. I personally think how they presented the story needs some work. There are a lot of things in the actual story missions that are things you notice. Like the Hive being locked up on Earth by the Fallen or that the Fallen and Cabal fight the Hive/Vex but we don't see the Hive fighting the Vex. Things like this that you would only notice by stopping in the game and thinking about what is happening around you instead of running off for the next waypoint. This is what was meant by rushing. The cutscenes you cannot skip no, but that is not really what I was referring to.

You didn't post a story. You posted random fragments of a story. Please, tell me, what is the Black Garden.

It's the place where the Vex are born. Locked out of time and space. Only accessible by a Gate Lord. Home of the heart that brings Vex to life and where the Sol Progeny are stationed to protect the heart. Once the heart died it synced back into a location on Mars in the present. It's a lot more than random fragments. I read the whole dark tower series and never knew what the dark tower was until the last book number 7. Every little detail does not need to be explained in a story. In the wheel of time series there are things left unanswered throughout the entire series that are never answered.
