A decent tactic to draw attention to the movement but it could have been done better.
It was meant to be shocking
English
-
Their movement is based on debunked claims and conspiracy nonsense.
-
I agree that some of the stats in this video just aren't true. But I am a feminist.
-
Why not an Equalist? Just the spelling of "FEMinist" is biased and primarily focuses on women. You can't make both genders equal by focusing on the [false] problems of just on. There's a lot more problems than just gender problems. An Equalist wouldn't be controversial of a term and it better encompasses humanity.
-
Feminists focus on women's rights with the aim of equality. They are part is the wider egalitarian movement.
-
That's solidifying my point. You can't achieve equality by focusing on the problems of just one side! There are countless males rights problems, too! What do you do about those, HM? Nothing!
-
There are male rights activists who work on those. You can't expect everyone to do everything, it's far more efficient to focus on individual issues in society.
-
Then you can't make the claim that you're working towards equality, because that isn't equality
-
I am working towards equality, a specific section, yes, but equality regardless
-
You need to relearn what equality means
-
Equal rights and opportunities for all?
-
Aaand you're only focusing on one side, leaving the other side where it is. That isn't equality, it's called furthering your own goals for personal gain. Stop pretending like it isn't.
-
If the eventual goal is equality, no, that doesn't work. Plus, I don't see it as 'sides', I'm a man myself, and think equality is a noble cause and will support any form of it, even if I choose to focus on feminism.
-
So you're saying if I were to be a supremacist and attempt to kill every other race on the planet in order to further my race's equality, that it would be "equal"? As to the part about you being male, it shouldn't matter if your male or female if you're supporting a just cause. The fact that you added it in just to add weight to your statement just proves that feminism isn't for equality.
-
Feminism is the forwarding of women's rights to attain equality. Nothing more. We don't hate men, we don't want them to be killed or any of that nonsense. I only mentioned I was a man as you were talking about me trying to push for my 'side'
-
I didn't mean "you" as in actually you but as in a generalization of any given topic. Men and women aren't equal, but there are issues on both sides. Attaining equality or what you meant by it for women by definition won't really be equality, it will just mean women have all the rights of men and more. Men will still be where they started out from from a social standpoint. Will anybody care and do anything about it? Doubt it, seeing as how much hate from feminists the MRA gets.
-
In breaking down gender roles, men are helped too. Is focusing on a particular aspect of equality really that bad? I'm pro egalitarian, it's just my actual activism is focused on feminism in particular
-
Please explain your theory on how men are helped
-
Any men showing feminine traits are looked down on. That would stop. Men who are abused by their wives would be taken more seriously.
-
Explain how these changes would occur. And I have plenty of male friends who display feminine traits, and they're probably the most badass and cool guys I've ever met.
-
I'm talking generally, of course not everyone is negatively affected by this. It's a pretty tough job to change culture, and will take a long time, but it's worth it.
-
You're kinda beating a dead horse here, normal people in society dont really give a shit about what other people do, its only the radicals that try to do anything about it.
-
Female on male domestic abuse doesn't agree with you
-
Feminism doesn't agree with you
