The Multi-Million Dollar Question: PvE vs. PvP
Please just take a minute or less of your time to participate. What is more important to you in destiny? 50/50 there are no wrong answers here!

Personally I am a big fan of PvP, but like many others I bought this game for the 'epic' storytelling and co op PvE it was advertised for. Knowing Bungie I expected a lot more from PvP in this game and currently it's just not a go to for competitive multiplayer, but I hope to see improvement in the future.
I understand that many people on these forums are PvE players but there seems to be overwhelming demand for new PvE content and I hope to see a weekly update detailing the future of PvE sometime soon so we can all grind happily knowing it will pay off.
To those of you who wanted to know where the 'both' option was I intended this to be a black and white question with no neutral answer, that's why the question stated what's [b]most[/b] important. If you didn't vote that's okay 8,000 other people did.
This was my first post on these forums and i am very satisfied with the response, as a community we all need to keep up the constructive feedback on our ends and help the devs create a masterpiece!

2 RepliesThe 88% showing in favor of pve is why I'm disappointed that I can't purchase faction armor without doing the crucible. At least give us three other options for vanguard marks.

Personally I love PvP. Bungie made halos PvP very well and masterfully designed. Unfortunately I feel like none of that experience shifted over to Destiny. First of all, one hit kill weapons shouldn't be on personnel at all times. That's something Bungie did well in halo. You had to find those on hit kill weapons, and it still took a bit of skill to use them. Destiny? Shotguns seem a tad bit too good in PvP given that each map is very small and close quarters oriented. The fusion rifle? Good at literally any range. The only gun that seems fair in my opinion would be the sniper rifle. Next up, supers. Supers seem Balanced in PvE as each of them serve a specific job. That doesn't carry over to PvP. Bladedancer is the equivalent of running around with double over shields and an energy sword that can lunge from a foot away, coupled with a speed boost. The others are no better, basically just panic buttons to use whenever. Their is no actual one on one confrontations, as each time one is started it usually ends with a OHK or a super. No strafing, no using each classes jump to an advantage, just super and be done with it, or pull out a fusion rifle a blast them away. One hit kills should not be present in a competitive game mode such as PvP.

PvP will always be the most volital game mode in any mmo because balance is a myth when everyone has different items, classes, levels. PvP will never be balanced yet determine the effectiveness of items in pve due to nerfs that never address the true issues such as map design, no true paper v rock v scissor mechanic, fotw item.

I'm one of the biggest general PvP fans out there, in any game. But the PvP in Destiny is....so... completely horrid that I can't even stand to play it. I am not the best PvP player in the world, but even if I am losing I will continue to play a game if it is fun. There is zero fun in Destiny PvP. The only reason to play is for forced exotic bounties. Such a joke.

Hate PvP, can't stand it, will only play PvE. Every time they release a PvP only update I move one step closer to leaving. Pisses me off that all the guns are so samey because they have to pander to PvP balance.

I bought this game for the PvE. I had it pre-ordered as soon as Gamestop would take a pre-order. Every single update (barring Atheon's baby bumpers) has been PvP focused. Poll says that (at least amongst the Forum community) PvE is the main focus of 90% of Bungie.net. Bungie, you may want to pass the message along to Activision that they're forcing you to -blam!- over your own game... because come Nov/Dec, a different Activision game is going to take your precious PvP gamers away, then all you'll be left with is a bunch of really pissed off PvE gamers that you've routinely -blam!-ed over...

To be fair I am a big fan of pvp and competitive play but in RPGs they should be unique and fit the story, which they don't here. That could be forgiven if the story is good or in depth which it isn't. It feels like they made their game based off what they heard mmos did without playing one. I know it isn't an mmo but they were clearly emulating one.

Believe it or not many of us do not measure our value or worth via the result of a competitive FPS game. So very many of us came to Destiny from games like Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and WoW where the story or the chance to build a cooperative community were the hooks. I stopped playing competitive MP several years ago. Simply no longer enjoyed it. As such my skill in it has declined (.91 k/d in Destiny to save you looking it up). I much prefer the cooperative nature of ODST's firefight, GoW's Horde Mode and the spirit of what Strikes and Raids can be one day in Destiny. The Crucible can stick around, that's fine. Enjoy shooting each other in the face if that's your thing. However the poll clearly demonstrates that you are in the minority and that many more people prefer to work together.

Net code is way to horrible for PvP to be taken with any seriousness I would put it on par if not worse than battlefield 4 at launch. I have played some crucible but don't take kd ratio with any seriousness at all its a non factor to me in this game. Which is nice in a way but has a long way to go if it wants to be an e sport. I just enjoy the pve environment more also have gotten more loot from pve more frequently.
