Material farming is really getting out of hand here.
Its getting really common to see fireteams of 3 just head onto a planet for the sole purpose of farming materials. Sometimes, they even interrupt diligent Guardians who are completing patrol missions, and 'invite' them(usually by vigorous punching and pushing) to partake in their farming activity with them.
This is by all intents and purposes an exploit. Materials are not meant to be 'looked for' or routinely farmed. They are meant to be a pleasant surprise as you appreciate Destiny's beautiful environment and even then, limited by the amount you can gain per day.
I hope Destiny takes the same action that as they did to those unlimited ammo exploiters back at the games launch. Ban these '100 SPINMETAL/HR RUNS' on youtube harshly and permanently.
Discuss.
EDIT : 450 replies. I am glad to see that I have inspired intense discussion in my fellow forumers. Right now, the consensus seems to be that materials ( ascendant or regular) need to only be dispensed through the Nightfall, once a week.
I am in agreement. Hopefully we get confirmation from Deej soon.
EDIT 2 : Okay, okay. This thread was a joke. I thought people would be able to tell by the biased poll options and dumb content.. Lighten up, lol.

On a serious note: i think bungie should add material vendors in the tower for each faction, like you can use glimmer, crucible or vanguard marks, and perhaps even change the mark system, like when you wear a dead orbit cape you get dead orbit rep and marks, and the higher your rep level the less the materials cost, and each faction sells a specific kind of material, to encourage people to advance in each faction, so perhaps the vangaurd will specialise in spinmetal, or new monarchy in relic iron? Perhaps this is a good alternative to farming materials from planets, im not saying take the farming away because you can always pick materials up on missions but i believe my seggestion will encourage people to play abit more, as they will want to do strikes or crucible to gain rep and marks. Now for the exchange rate, im thinking perhaps 1000 glimmer or 10 marks for 3 or for pieces of material, but thats up to what the Dev's decide, i hope Deej reades this and relay's it to the team cuz i think it's something that will improve the Destiny experience
