Girl Gamer Explains: Why Crucible loot drops are RNG
Before I get started, I want to be clear that I'm NOT directly endorsing the design of PvP loot rewards, merely providing what I think is Bungie's logic and because it is CLEARLY a mechanic that's still bothering people. I honestly think they have PvP gear rewards totally random as a bit of a social experiment because what it does do (aside from piss people the -blam!- off) is:
1. Reward anyone, [i]regardless[/i] of skill level, for trying out PvP. Carrot meet stick...*nom nom nom*.
2. Attempt to eliminate tryhard multiplayer arguing over kill steals, KD reps, and all that dumb internet epeen measuring.
3. Attempts to make the[i] focus[/i] of the [i]gameplay[/i] the most interesting thing about the experience. Not just a [u]means to a reward.[/u]
This is why the dude that went 2 / 25 will get a shiny Exotic despite your dominant 30 / 10 massacre. Winning is rewarded via Marks and Rep, NOT loot drops in the current system.

5 RepliesLet eternal_napalm explain why this is: The main reason for this is to reward the bad players to keep them invested. Sure, the system is completely random, but it's highly likely that the better players are also players highly invested in the game, and therefore it is likely that they already have Legendaries and exotics through earning them. When a bad player gets an exotic, after going 4-22, it makes them feel better about the game, despite the fact they are performing lousy, and is a deterrent from quitting the game and moving into another game. Activision has dlcs to sell, after all, and a bad player getting spanked is less likely to buy dlcs in the future, affecting the bottom line. So they keep it random, and that ensures the bad players have a chance at obtaining exotics and Legendaries. I've seen dozens of pics of players going massively negative in the bottom of a losing team and scoring an exotic. Isn't it sick to know that a 5-19 player in the Crucible can score an exotic while someone who solos Nightfall get shards? Disgusting.

On a side note if someone really wanted exotics and purples and other stuff they would do the Nightfalls and weeklys. Guaranteed purples at least for the nightfall, high chance on the weekly. Get guaranteed reward for playing the game or have a crapy chance at reward for pretending your 30 K/D actually means something besides the fact you learned to teabag little kids. All the blues get broken down into mats to upgrade the good stuff anyway, ever had to farm blues to get armor mats? It sucks, not so bad now that you get so much RNG. Long story short, play the game you'll be swimming in exotics in no time.

2 RepliesWell, handle barred mustaches are pretty amazing, as someone who grew the handlebar themselves. It shows a commitment to not only the amount of time it takes to grow one, but the daily work needed to upkeep one. We are of course talking about the mustaches that curl upwards on the side, right? Hot days were my enemy as it would sometimes melt the wax I was using. That being said, I will FOR SURE take all things said by the OP more seriously.

Girl gamer will never understand why cock measuring elimination is not very good for a PvP game =) If you post anywhere and you claim to be a girl then be prepared for a lot of flame coming your way. Its the way of the gamer. Some will play White Knight in futile hopes of getting laid, others (those who don't get hit with sperm cells in the brain so much, mostly kids below 16) will curse your birth right any way imaginable. There is no way to avoid it, except for getting used to it. Or don't pretend to be a girl in the first place.
