I like that you have to gain certain gear to get to level 30. It's a cool concept . I did not mind grinding my way to 30 via the raid. I do however, believe that the true way to get to 30 would to be to master EVERYTHING. I think it would be a much cooler system if you had to get a piece of high end gear from everything. Strikes, Nightfall, Crucible, and Raid. Each category could you give multiple pieces that each have different kinds of perks. That being said, the RNG system doesn't have to go anywhere. It would randomly give you one of these said pieces just like you can get an exotic or legendary reward from any of these at any given time. The reward could be for any slot of armor. Wearing four pieces of this "special" armor can get you to level 29, but at the end of their upgrade trees they could have a perk that is along the lines of "Wearing a piece of [special] armor from every category at once increases your Light" and thus levels you up to 30. Perhaps a "special" item can count for your class item slot too, so there is still room for an Exotic piece. I don't know. I'm just throwing out ideas. This way, nobody has a reason to complain that there is only one way to get to 30. Everybody has to do everything. Doing the Raid is still worthwhile for not only its respective weapons, but you still need at least one Piece of Raid gear to get to 30. You just have to do it for the other categories also. You can mix and match the four slots however you like, so we aren't all clones. Now getting to 30 means you have grown experienced in all aspects of combat.
