It's a simple fix though add transmogrification like in Diablo 3. For those that don't know what that is, it's the ability to change the look of any item you have to an items physical look if you have already gotten a piece of gear with that model. Real simple and could cost say 5k glimmer to do. This would alleviate everyone looking the same.
Also on that note allow us to modify our shaders a bit. Every other game has this ability

In SWTOR you can take pieces out of the gear that makes the stats and combining with the shell of other gear

Used in DC universe online too

or give us the ability to make a shader out of full set of gear that we like, then modify it for color.
