WHO IS THIS GAME MADE FOR?

I'm a little confused. Initially, I thought this game was made to entertain me. As the weeks carry on and more "updates" keep getting released I am coming to realize this game is not made to entertain me. It is solely made to entertain Bungie. -Players dismantle their Queens gear for shards. Bungie: We don't want you to do that. -Players use AR's = Bungie: Nerf them, we don't want you doing that. -Players have figured out how to strategically defeat a boss from a superior position = Bungie: "Block off the sniper tower, we don't want you doing that." -Players organize teams with specific roles to succeed at current end game content. Bungie: "We don't like this organized team environment. We don't want you doing it like that. Make it completely random." <--most frustrating WHO IS THIS GAME MADE FOR? I have never heard SO much negativity from a gaming community. This is absolutely absurd behavior from a developer. Is it your intention to piss people off so they go out and buy COD? At this point, I feel like that is the intention. The only thing wrong with the current game is the lack of depth. Fix that. Darkknight1245

I could tell you of the great battle between the players and developers.. I could tell you how most weapons were rendered useless.. Recently those stories have stopped. Now, the players are frightened anyways.

I agree completely. It's like bungie's attitude is that we should buy their game and just be glad for the privilege.
I have never heard SO much negativity from a gaming community
I have, Mass Effect 3 easily had as much, both for for the writing of the ending and for the flawed, but still addictive and fun coop multiplayer. In respects to the multiplayer, BioWare also made changes to block players from "farming" (which was especially stupid in that game since there was no competitive aspect, so it really didn't matter much), while not only ignoring existing major bugs, but adding new ones. Also, running shallow, repetitive weekend events while taking too long to roll out meaningful content, resulting in a steep decline in players (I mean really... any of this sound familiar???). The impact on the players and the future of the series were miniscule compared to what Destiny faces, and the mode was an experiment, not the beginning of a new IP, but the lessons are the same. Prioritizing changes that you know will piss off your players does not breed a happy community - it lends to people walking away to the next shiny thing that comes along. (Borderlands, Halo: MCC, COD: AW, AC: Unity, etc...) That said, what I haven't seen much in most communities is the amount of constructive and intelligent feedback that crops up in these forums regarding those negative feelings. Also, the amount of support between players for these ideas and real, honest conversations if you screen out the "you suck at gaming" comments. The players really, really want this game to succeed, and are willing to go out of their way to try help it do so. Unfortunately all evidence thus far is that this is being largely ignored while focus is placed on someone's personal vision of the game. This was supposed to be a game for the players. All of them. All walks of life, all skill levels. A universe which changes over time and keeps you wanting more. That means flexibility - interesting, engaging content for people who can't invest more than a few hours a week in a game, as well as those who play nonstop (this was explicitly stated by Bungie). Content updates that *have* to outpace game release cycles in order to keep people's attentions. This doesn't have to be major story chunks, but real events with interesting mini quests and new crucible game modes that are actually different are reasonable to expect. Right now, instead of a game for the players, it's increasingly a game for someone in the background who is suffering from extreme tunnel vision and an ego the size of the Traveler (I like the analogy that's been made to a pissy DND DM). Our destiny, it seems, is pre-determined.

            • The game has plenty of depth. To answer your question it is designed for players like ME. Who enjoy MMOs, Action-RPGs (like Sacred, Diablo) and DON"T like the typical FPS. The player who likes the "grind" for gear that is the end-game in games like this, and enjoys finding new ways to challenge myself with existing game material. it is NOT designed for those players who want run around and do their own thing in an open-ended sandbox. Who needs and endless stream of "new" things to do to avoid boredom...or is used to having all the games benefits unlocked and available to them in only a few days, (most competitive shooters). Destiny will frustrate, anger and annoy these players. Bungie most likely made the patches they did because their goal is to improve YOUR personal game experience...and ONLY your game epxperience. They are doing what they feel they hvae to do to preserve the OVERALL game experience of playing Destiny, and to improve the experience of the greatest number of people. 1. Initially didn't understand why Bungie did what they did, but now that I see how KEY Ascendent materials are to the speed at which you level up gear in the end game...I agree with what they did. If they hadn't the Queen's kill missions would have broke the game. Before they patched I was dismantling Warlock helments to the tune of three shards, and chest armor for two. Just doing the PvE bounties, I was getting 4 kill missions a day. So we're talking anywhere between 8-12 shards per character PER DAY. That's ONE WEEKS worth of Ascendant Materials from the VoG....in one day. Multiply that by 14 days of the event...and you're and you're pushing 150 shards. Multiply that by 3 characters...and you're looking at 450 shards. Even more if you could do both PvE and PvP bounties. You've basically rendered the raid irrelevant beyond getting raid gear. Because you've amassed enough ascendant materials to upgrade anything you want until Destiny 2 drops. 2. ARs have been broken since the beta. Especially the Shingens. I was shooting Fallen Snipers off of rooftops with Shingen-Cs from halfway accrooss The Divide during the beta. Pre-release nerfs helped the problem of their unrealistic accuracy at range...but didn't go far enough. Again...needed to be done. 3. Can't support Bungie on this one. Like I said when it was announced, it smelled of a panic move...and sends a bad message to the community: That Bungie will rip out of the game ANY solution to the raid fights OTHER than the one theiy scripted. Which is a losing battle on their part. The creativity of 30 programmers cannot compete with that of 3 million gamers in nearly-instantaneous communication through social media. The raid been effectively "crowd-sourced". Bungie runs the risk of DESTROYING what's good about the raid, by trying to micromanage how people play it. 4. This, imo, is Bungie fighting back against the push Atheon of the ledge strategy...which I can buy as a glitch. Because the strategy requires Atheon to teleport the people farthest away from him into the portal...while the rest of the team runs up towards him, and then starts bombarding him with grenades and Nova Bombs. If Atheon starts to randomly teleport people, this strategy becomes a lot harder to use. But I think it goes overboard. and will wind up destroying any ability to assign roles and organize as a time. The Atheon fight will be come a mad scramble that will depend on every player knowing every function...rather than creating a strategy and then effectivly executing it. Like #3 I see this as an over-reaction on Bungies part....but at least a more understandable and justifiable one. Though Ithink its effectis will be just as---if not more---corrosive than the changes to the Templar fight.

                •
WHO IS THIS GAME MADE FOR?
The game was tweaked to appeal to a WIDE variety of players. Ambitious move from Bungie and unrealistic in my opinion. It's hard enough to please a small section of the gaming community, let alone three or four... The FPS/lone wolf were left without a story or characters, the RPG players without enough options, the MMO players without the broad scope they expected. Enjoy Destiny for what it is, fun shooter of some sort, with beautiful visuals and awesome music. I sadly think it is too late to change much, this installment was Bungie latest vision for Destiny and set the tone for this game and future ones.

                • None of you assholes have played an MMO before have you ? This much bitching and whining pales to the world of war craft whines and complaints, and it's going to get worse before it gets better as bungie finds the new balance that running an MMO requires.
destiny is an MMO whether they admit it or not
• Activision: 8 convoluted steps to saving CoD. Step 1: hear rumours coming from the halo camp that they have an idea so huge it's being referred to as the "CoD killer" Step 2: slither into said camp and make them an offer that no one in their right mind could refuse so as to make this epic of gaming under their label Step 3: piss off the creativity behind the piece until it leaves in frustration Step 4: hastily retool for a full staff Step 5: take the best efforts of newcomers trying to flesh out someone else's dream and hack them into teeny, tiny, pieces. Show them to people then put them in a box that can only be opened with cash. Step 6: give no response what so ever to any and all customer complaints/issues. Step 7: while refusing to address the issues make sure to rectify them in next CoD title before release (not the £15 for 4 maps deal though, that shit sells) Step 8: sit back and watch bungie (who at this point aren't even the same bungie who started on the project) take all the crap, destroying their reputation while simultaneously stressing the point that "you do not mess with CoD's FPS dominance"

Activision, as the publisher, could have pressured them to release after gutting the game and firing the only people who could save it. To ensure that even more people thought about CoD from the destiny player base, they added a Destiny related cod preorder bonus. They did all this knowing that when destiny crumbles, people will turn to CoD, or at least, the PvP players will. Pure conspiracy theory, mind you.

                    • Bungie could take a page from the Warframe developers Digital Extremes. Their Community Managers interact with the players live on Twitch EVERY week. And the Developers themselves host Question/Answer/Feedback Twitch sessions Every other week. It feels like Bungie are too busy jerking off over our $, that they stole with their lies about a Destiny that does not exist. NEVER buying a Bungie game AGAIN!

                    • The "Organized" team play seems to have become a large topic. The problem isn't with Bungie, its with the Rambo-Generals that think this is WoW; where once a raid is "figured out" its run through until the proper or missing armor set is "dropped"--- well those are days of old. The better method is exactly what Bungie has done---- but oh now what is poor Rambo to do? Think dynamically--- might have a brain aneurysm, and think about real life: the marine commander reports to the president that the mission failed because his team was conditioned for one environment, and the actual was different or unexpected; fired or get your ars out there and do your job is what would happen--- so the same should be true here--- hey it changed--- so? no need to whine and cry about it-- man up and deal with it--- gee, a challenge and my fire team fell apart--- aweee.

                      • Let them whine. Maybe they need to go to school so they can write a game from start to finish that will be entertaining. Keep up the good work BUNGIE. I have not played anything else since Destiny dropped. I am very much entertained and I have had good fun with good people. It is one hell of a ride.
