I took my titans pistol and my shiny new Pocket Finity into the crucible last night. Auto rifles and Shotguns pwned my face. Within 3 matchs I was toting my auto rifle and shotgun again., My legendary Fusion rifle makes pocket infinity look like a toy. The slowest charge rate I've ever seen, and no ability to one shot anyone even with a head shot. I have all legendary/exotic gear across my 3 classes. Tons of legendary spare weapons in the bank, as well as a bad juju and pocket finity,(waiting for fixes, yoke) I've dismantled nearly every legendary this game offers, including some exotics. I've seen only one exotic that made any difference at all, and it was in PVE. Its the icebreaker. Love that weapon. The other exotics I've actually had to mothball in the bank, and use legendary weapons that are better unleveled than the fully leveled exotic I have two legendary shotguns that I took into PVE as you intend to do. Be prepared to die.....alot. Most mobs your looking to rip the shield off of take 3-6 shots, and 9 times out of 10.....its suicide. The PVE in this game is as lop sided as the PVP. The new 2 man strike is awesome. Every strike I queue for, someone quits or dcs. The 3 man disaster is my favorite though. Some asshole will find a high spot in the room, causing tons of mobs to spawn and wtfpwn the two who fight normally, while they and their glitch remain unharmed. Way to punish the honest with the cheats Bungie. Just unreal. In closing, your PVE experience with a shotgun will be NOTHING like your PVP. .In PVP you'll melt face,(no matter the match type) In PVE the captain will just look you in the eye, and put your lights out. This game for me, (and many others me thinks), is now just a space filler till the games we're waiting for are released. Good luck and Hails out. .
